How do i look at a profile if all I have is an email adress?

enter their email address except the "@yahoo.com" part

You can also go to yahoo 360 and hit search type in the email add and if they have a profile it will pull it up

If the email ID is from yahoo, go to http://profiles.yahoo.com.
Otherwise try searching at http://orkut.com or http://myspace.com or http://hi5.com or any other social networking site.
Otherwise, go to google and search for the email ID.
