Every time I try to open a Excel or Word file on my computer (a Dell desktop running Windows XP), Norton runs a virus scan on the file. This is driving me crazy because for my job, I must be opening and closing files constantly. Taking up to a full minute or more to scan a file before even thinking about opening it is becoming beyond just "inconvenient".

In the Norton control panel, "Auto-Protect" is turned on. When I click on the link to find out more information about what that is, I'm told one of the features is:

"Keeps your system safe at all times by checking for viruses every time that you use software programs on your computer, insert floppy disks or other removable media, and modify or access documents"

Is this even necessary? I was raised as a Mac user, and on my Mac, I wouldn't hesitate about turning this "feature" off. However, since I'm on a windows machine, I am hesitant to turn anything off. Is this level of protection really necessary?

This is the first time that I've filled the colour cartridge and only the second time with the black one, and trust me there was enough ink in the colour one, most of it on me hands!!!! But the cartridges seem fine, no problems and the printer ok too. It just don't seem that the cartridge not connectin rite. Aparently, the printer counts the amount of ink used, there no chip etc that needs resetin. Can't understand why black cart. ok and colour is not. But I would like to thank you for answering my question- Thankyou all :-)

Well here is the problem: I have download speed 100 kilobytes/sec but when i use bitcomet to download via torrent technology it downloads only with a max of 30 kilobytes/sec. I didn't tried only bitcomet but also a bunch of other aplications like bitornado and utorrent. And when one of these programms is open and downloading with a max of 30 kilobytes/sec .I cannot use the rest of 70 kilobytes!!!!!!!!i takes 5 minutes to load a page when downloading with torrent even thought in consumes only 30% of my bandwidth. When i use other p2p applications like limewire it actually achieves the 100 kilobytes/sec!!!
Any sugestions of what is causeing the problem?

Re-filled print cartridge?
I have a Hewlett Packard PSC2110 and I have re-filled the colour cartridge which is on the left hand side of the black cartridge which I have also re-filled and works fine. I have cleaned the connection on the printer with only warm water and the colour cartridge aswell. The printer keeps saying ' remove cartridge and check '. I dont wana pay for a new cartridge if there is a problem with the printer. Please can u help me? Thankyou in advance ;-) PS- The cartridge was cleaned and dried and the printer was not ON, and waited until connections were dry. The manual says to use this method. Nothin has shorted out.
