Well here is the problem: I have download speed 100 kilobytes/sec but when i use bitcomet to download via torrent technology it downloads only with a max of 30 kilobytes/sec. I didn't tried only bitcomet but also a bunch of other aplications like bitornado and utorrent. And when one of these programms is open and downloading with a max of 30 kilobytes/sec .I cannot use the rest of 70 kilobytes!!!!!!!!i takes 5 minutes to load a page when downloading with torrent even thought in consumes only 30% of my bandwidth. When i use other p2p applications like limewire it actually achieves the 100 kilobytes/sec!!!
Any sugestions of what is causeing the problem?

H, i had the same problem when first instaled BitComet, my downloading speed was 30-40% of the maximum and browsing was realy slow. After some searching, i found this post, which pretty much explains where the problem is. Good Luck

You need to understand how torrents operate. First off, it's not a one-to-one connection as in typical P2P systems. It's a many-to-many connection topology. If there are not enough seeds to supply a full bandwidth stream, you'll get whatever is available. You could be on a 100 Mb connection and would still only get 30k.

The other thing you need to keep in mind is that torrents are intended to be shared by all. If you are not sharing what you have, your download bandwidth will be severely limited by the users who ARE sharing what they have. If your firewall is blocking torrent connections inbound, you need to open the torrent port(s) (check your docs for instructions) so that what you have is available to other users.

Lastly, check the settings in your torrent client. Most will automatically limit your download bandwidth to 30% - 40% of available bandwidth and upload to around 10% of available bandwidth. You can change those settings. Check your torrent client's docs for instructions on how to do that.

OK this might be due to some restriction imposed by your ISP, the torrent tracker might be hosted in a location considered 'outside' your peering area. Try do to some bandwidth tests from a site suggested by your ISP or call them to ask if there are some limitations, for example i have 90 kbps in my country and outside only 30kpbs.

try downloading something on Bear share...I have 6Mbps DSL and I consitantly, if I'm pulling the file from enough users, can get at least 4-5Mbps or 500-625KB/sec
