This is the first time that I've filled the colour cartridge and only the second time with the black one, and trust me there was enough ink in the colour one, most of it on me hands!!!! But the cartridges seem fine, no problems and the printer ok too. It just don't seem that the cartridge not connectin rite. Aparently, the printer counts the amount of ink used, there no chip etc that needs resetin. Can't understand why black cart. ok and colour is not. But I would like to thank you for answering my question- Thankyou all :-)

if you can tell the printer it is a NEW colour cartridge that may help

The electronics on the cartridge will degrade over time.. Also if there is any ink or debris on the electronic contacts of the cartridge it will not register in the printer. You can clean the electronics using a pink eraser, very gently wipe in one direction.

If this fails to get the cartridge to register in the printer, you may unfortunately need a new one. If this is just a matter of lack of ink level, and the printer is still printing fine. Ignore the problem. Keep printing until you see fading. When you see fading replace/refill the cartridge.

Also if you are using an older model lexmark, you need to tell the printer that you have installed a new cartridge.

yes of course you can re fill your printer catridge. but in my opinion if you are using the printer for your personal and not in very qulity purpose you can re fill it otherwise its a waste of money because we cant get the correct colour combination when we refill this one. so the choice is yours......

no problem...the next logical step is 'discounted ink cartridges.'
