Re-filled print cartridge?
I have a Hewlett Packard PSC2110 and I have re-filled the colour cartridge which is on the left hand side of the black cartridge which I have also re-filled and works fine. I have cleaned the connection on the printer with only warm water and the colour cartridge aswell. The printer keeps saying ' remove cartridge and check '. I dont wana pay for a new cartridge if there is a problem with the printer. Please can u help me? Thankyou in advance ;-) PS- The cartridge was cleaned and dried and the printer was not ON, and waited until connections were dry. The manual says to use this method. Nothin has shorted out.

I have found that I can only refill a cartridge once. The second time, the printer rejects it. It sounds like you either haven't put enough ink in the cartridge or it just isn't going to work for you. I know, it's a bummer.

whenever you have the check cartridge light that means the cartridge is failing electronically unfortunately there is nothing you can do outside of replacing the cartridge. Any time you place a cartridge in liquid, even water you run the risk of damaging the contacts on the back. Unfortunately this is what most likely happened. Also, static, oils from you hands and ink (which is in most cases a mild base) will destroy the electronics. You will unfortunately have to replace the cartridge.

You may want to try cleaning the electronics on the cartridge with a pink eraser, gently rub in one direction until they are all nice an shiny. It may help, however it is unlikely with that style of cartridge (number 57)

For now use a new cartridge, but for the next refill you will have to first turn the printer off (do not use your computer to change the cartridge only if is a new one, it will not recognise a used ones) next open the the door to reach the cartridge, then pull the cartridge assembly to the centre where the cartridge can be reached, then pull cartridge out, refill it replace it you will have to place the assembly back to the original position and close the cartridge door, turn the printer on and use the printer.

Ink jet printers are like xbox, playstation, and gameboy consoles. The basic unit is sold at bargain prices (considering their complexity) and the ink cartridges and game cartridges are where the companies make their real profits. To make ink cartridges easy to refill and reuse would not be profitable. Next time, use alcohol... water should NEVER come into contact with electrical connections... and make sure there's no residue of either alcohol or cotton (or whatever cloth/swab you used) on the contacts. If that doesn't work, just pay for a new one.

I had a similar problem with my Epson and a generic cartridge. The cartridge had a different venting method, so the removable vent tape was in a different location than I was familiar with. the The tape covers up some small vent holes used to relieve the vacuum which builds up in the cartridge as ink is removed. This sounds like the problem you have since it ran check patterns but got progressively lighter. Look for a small piece of tape, often with an arrow pointing in the direction needed to remove the tape. On my Epson cartridge, the tape was over the top of the cartridge with the pull arrow folded to the side.

HP ink cartiriges has electonics to detect the ink level. When you refill it, the ink level recorded is still low. There is a chip resetter to reset electronically the ink level so that the refilled cartiridge can be use.
I bought one of these with NZ$19 (US $10). I saw some refill ink cartridges for HP come with that chip reseter as well.
Hopes that help
