I was recently involved in an accident where a motorcycle struck my vehicle. On the accident report it said that I violated the right of way and the motorcyclist had improper lane change. I didn't see him until he actually struck the front end of my car and I had just nosed out to cross a two lane road. I was not cited and not criminally charged. It is really unfortunate that it happened b/c he was not visible to me and it could have happened to anyone. Anyway, I am being sued and I'm just starting out in life. I don't know what limitations there are of damages that can be found against me. I don't have any assets, but I am trying to find out if i'll have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars over my lifetime. If so I'll be in debt forever. I feel horrible that this whole thing happened, but that's why they call them accidents I guess. Can anyone help give me an idea of what will happen to me?

Zero tolerance results in an officers ablity to issue a 24 hour prohibition from driving. An accumulation of 24 hour restrictions results in loss of driving priviledges. Although you are sure that you have not exceded the legal limit, to prove this you must leave your vehicle at the side of the road and be detained to a police detatchment for a more positive sample to prove your innocence. once proven you are left to your own devices to return to your Vehicle, if your Vehicle has not been towed. Make up your mind either you have a legall limit or you don't. Should the Motor Vehicle Branch be allowed to set their own laws as to the legal limit to opertate a motor vehicle in Canada? Should Police Officers be able to change the law at will as to enact punishment beyond the written law? Do you think that this is just another money grab that should be deemed unconstitutional?

If they know it increases the risk of car accidents, then why do they drive while talking on the cell phone, eating, reading, or putting on make-up?

The main traffic problem is due to vehicle parking of owners and visitors near road side shops, offices, showroooms etc. The solution to this problem is easy if local authority make compulsory them to leave ground floor pillars place for parking, lift and staircase only.

If the main circle between cross roads is made of bigger size and also carpeting speed bracker systems like steel pipes, frequent rubber bumps till the far end of circle entering area. When new roads are going to be developed, it is easier to make very big Circles on cross road. The law to drive " Left Only " is sufficient. Only the advertising business, owners of Banners and Hoardings are earning huge amount due to traffic signals and that lobby is working for making more and more traffic booths. Vehicle drivers please get united against Government. Demolishing frequest Bumps on road is also such big issue.

hi all! i was driving on a dual carriage (30mph limit) way with a passenger.. i stopped behind an estate car which wanted to turn right into its property. because of opposite flow of traffic i waited for a while behind him.. other cars started undertaking us on the left lane. i decided to move into the left lane to go pass the estate car. i looked in my mirrors (inside mirror was a black merc), i looked into my left mirror waited until it was clear signalled left, check my blind spot.. and then when it was clear i started to moved into the left lane. suddenly my mate started shouting "woohoo watch out" i quickly glanced over my left saw this fast car approaching. i cudnt move back into the right lane cos the estate hadn;t move yet. so i floored the accelerator hoping to get out of the fast car's way.. unfortunately he hit us..(nobody hurt) he damaged my rear wheel arch and passenger doors won't open.. rear bumper intact. his car.. driver wing damaged, and wheel axle buckled.
thanks
