Well ..... you may get a ticket, points against your license, higher insurance rates. You may not be paying attention to things beside your mph, things like pedestrians, traffic signs and lights, emergency vehicles and other drivers who are speeding or driving while not paying attention to the road. Someone might run into the street and you might not be able to stop in time. You might not notice that huge pothole in the road, you hit it hard and it damages your car.

You reach your destination quicker, and the force of aerodynamic drag increases exponentially. Some even say that you are more likely to be in an accident and die, but if that's the case then Formula 1 racing wouldn't exist because all the drivers would have died by now. Speed doesn't cause adccidents, the sudden impact does. Avoid the impact and speed all you like.

The problem with speed is that people don't understand how to drive quickly. The human brain is not wired to process information at speed, and even feeling safe inside a four-wheeled cage doesn't change the physics involved when controlling a 2-ton lethal weapon.

This is the phenomena that kills many young newbie motorcyclists. Even a small bike can get you moving faster than you have ever been before, and when panic sets in they fail to react appropriately.
