One of the mysteries of the universe is why do so many classic car builders install a low tech Chevrolet engine in a beautifully restored Ford??? Ford engine technology is years ahead of GM and they have built more exotic engines than Chevrolet can count. They dominate off road, drag racing and hold the fastest recorded Nascar speed ever recorded. Is it stupidity?Or just monkey see...monkeydo?

I have a Jeep Cherokee. My car wont start or even pretend to start, unless I really jerk on the gear shifter, But lately its been being testy with that, and now sometimes it wont start at all. what could be causing this? It's not my starter.

Our group will be four adults plus one child. We will all have luggage. Would a large "premium" car like a Chrysler Pacifica be ok (to travel about 2 hours) or should we get an SUV or minivan? The Pacifica would be considerably cheaper than an SUV or minivan.

Both SUV's/vans/wagons whose rear windows are more vertical than sedans, and hatchbacks whose rear windows are more horizontal, have rear window wipers. I'd think sedans, being in the middle, should have them too.

I have referred a cousin of mine in this situation to an attorney regarding this question but am curious as to the answer if someone here on Y!A knows it. There is the National Driver Register which tracks tickets and states can share information between them. But does revocation of a driver's license in 1 state automatically mean revocation in ALL states?

Of course there are alternatives like public transportation, car-pooling, taxis, bicycles, etc. But geographicly speaking, most areas of the US do not have ample public transportation or cost-effective taxis and having independant transportation, such as a car, becomes an economic necessity to get to work and to be employable for many jobs.

Are some states better than others when it comes to getting a driver's license? This is for a U.S. Citizen, not an illegal alien.

Or is the answer just to give up on the US and move to another country?

I am looking for rational, considerate answers, & not judgements or assumptions.

I allowed a friend's friend to work on his vehicle at my house, using power, tools, etc. vehicles. A truck was to be done and driveable months ago. He stopped working on it & decided to have it hauled to a new place. He assured me that it would be out of my way long before winter. I have contacted him by phone and by letter and asked him to please move it, and several notes posted in his back house door to let him know that I've had to work around his vehicle with the leaf problem in the fall and now we've had snow and ice and again, having to work around and push the vehicle away from the garage doors to get things/other vechicles in and out. He refuses to contact me back. I have even offered to buy it for what I know he has in it. Am I able to charge storage fees on it or pur a lien on it I have rights to get a duplicate title so that the vehicle can me mine, or should I have it towed away at his expense? This is my property. I need to know what to do.

i drive a 1988 ford ranger, and the tires on it now are done.

but 3 of the tires are 195's and one is a 215 (guetto little truck, i know)
well stock it runs 215's all around,(it says that the truck CAN be ran on 195s on websites that tell you about the truck being stock, so its not a uncommen thing)
this truck MAYBE puts out max 90HP.....
so i was going to switch the tires to 195's becase i dont need that extra tread on the ground with such a low hourse power!
(better gas mileage being a big goal)

but this truck sits most the summer, and i drive my bike durring the summer.

so my question is.
would it be ok to put 195's on this truck? what will be different then running 215's?

and as far as traction, would it be ok to put 215's on the rear, and 195's on the frount? (this way to have better grip in snow/dirt ect)
or will it make the truck act funny?

a little advice/help would be great!
(going to go get them tommarow

My b/f and I have a car in his name. I'm currently out of town for 3 months for business. I heard from some friends that since I've been gone he hasn't made payments on the car and it has been repossessed. Is there a website or someone I can call to see if the car has been repoed. I know the plate number and the VIN number. I don't want to go back home and not have a car. P.S. This is in Illinois and the place he got it from won't give me any information since my name was not on the car.

So I'm in the market for a new car and I have been switching back and forth between different cars. It went from a VW GTi 1.8t to a Honda Prelude to a MSP then back to the GTi. Well I've decided to just go with a car and I've narrowed it down to a Titanium Gray MSP with 48,295miles for $12k and a black 2003 GTi 1.8t with 45,500 miles for $12500. Both are 5 speeds. I dont know which to get. Can anyone offer me advice? I plan on throwing some mods into the car i choose. Can anyone give me an honest opinion and the pros/cons for both cars. Please help me out.
