Our group will be four adults plus one child. We will all have luggage. Would a large "premium" car like a Chrysler Pacifica be ok (to travel about 2 hours) or should we get an SUV or minivan? The Pacifica would be considerably cheaper than an SUV or minivan.

been there done that. I choose the Chrysler Town and Country or a Dodge Grand Caravan for overall comfort and economy. Room for five plus lots of room for luggage, etc.

Go for a full size car. Or even try a full size van.

any car that seats five and accomodates the luggage. it's only two hours.
