My friend last weekend crashed his bike...classic set-up, idiot pulls in front of him, and he slams on his brakes, the front locks up, and he is down.

My other roomate stated inexperience was at fault, but, really, who among us is Rossi, and can just "modulate" the braking system in a panic situation of life preservation?

BMW since the late 80's has been offering bikes with ABS, and I personally think it is an abomination that it is not standard on EVERY bike sold, at a minimum the front brakes.

guys and gals,

i am in a very embarrassing stage of my life .I am 21 and working guy but i donno how to drive a motorbike.I have a girl friend ,i need to learn driving for her otherwise i should be ready to sit behind her and just let her be the dominant partner.I do not like to drive scooty (gear less bikes)which i think are feminine bikes meant for women. But i am not in a position to learn geared bikes coz of my fear partly and not enough time for my persoanl life..

I donno what to do ...whether be the let her become the guy in the relationship and degrade myself to be the girl...

or try driving a feminine gear less bike ...she will surely make fun of me saying that u r nothing more than a girl and we are having a lesbian relationship...

what sud i do pals....

I have a 1962 BSA B40 - almost completed restoration project not used since 1972.

Does anyone know what fuel I should run it on? do I need to use LRP or would unleaded be fine, as it has an alloy head so the valve seats must already be hardened.....

I also need to know what oil should be used. Is it better to stick to old style oil, or to fit an oil filter and use modern combination oil (which grade in either case)? and also the oil level....

If anyone also knows what the tyre pressures should be, chain adjustment and anything else useful I would be very greatful.

Many thanks

i have a reserve on my bike so it was ok. but i was wondering what happens when you run out of gas is it bad for the bike what will happen if it keeps happening..

I got a new bike and took it for my first time riding today. The bike would only stay running if i kept some gas on it or else it would die, even in neutral.Unless i kept it reved up. I figured it was the clutch needed to be replaced because the cable was already be stretched out pretty much as much as possible . I also noticed oil/grease leaking from wear the exhaust connects to the engine.Maybe from the wrong oil mixture 40-1?? i dont know im new to the bike. Then i took the bike home and washed it.Started it up and it started was a little smokey , i then ran once up my block and then it died.Tried to start it but nothing i bumb started it started but it bogged down till it died right away. And after that it wouldnt start.Any ideas?

i bought this bike a month ago. recently i realized the right front exhaust wasn't very hot. i pulled the plug wire on the right front cylinder with the bike running and it did not seem to make a difference in rpm's. i pulled the plug and checked for spark. it did have a spark when cranking the motor over. one would think the carb is not working correctly. there is a small screw on the intake near that cylinders carb, i took out the screw and put a small cap full of gas near the hole and let the motor run and suck in the gas. that did not seem to make any difference in the way it ran. the motor did not surge or anything. i believe the compression is ok but have not checked it. also, i have gotten 47 mpg. that seems to be normal, i think, for a good running bike. pulling the plug wires on the other cylinders makes a difference in rpm's. any ideas as to what gives with the right front cylinder?

I have a 98 suzuki bandit 1200 that somehow got flooded out with gas in the winter, so i got it fixed and all was well. Now just last week i got my bike on the road for the first day, rode it around for about 3 hours and it was ok, i parked it at work and about 4 hours later when i was about to start it the motor would crank and then just stop. so i finally got my bike started and the choke was not working the mechanism was fine it just wasent bringing up the revs, so i drove it home and parked it. the next morning i go in my garage and there is gas everywhere. this is the second time this has happened to me my bike is flooded with gas the airbox, the crank, everything. what should i do
thanks

hi this is a 1982 yamaha xt200j and had been recently restored...we tried starting it fuel and everything (spark plug is good) and it sounded like it wanted to turn over but then didnt..on the carburetor there are 2 hoses 1 on the side and one on the bottom. after kicking it for a few times fuel started to come out of the one in the bottom of the carb...why is that? and what can i do to get this thing running? is fuel even getting to the engine?

if you try to shift with very high rev on the engine it doesn't shift yet it stays in the lower gear dashes ----- show in the gear indicator and it won't shift at all I have to shut it off turn it back on shift to neutral and start over sometimes it won't shift back to neutral so I carry a 12 mm wrench with me to get it back to neutral

I have a 1997 Buell Cyclone that won't hold a charge. I figured the battery was rather old and most likely shot, so I replaced with a brand new one from harley. Having come fully charged it worked great for about 3 days but is once again dead. I know very little about the charging mechanism on motorcycles(alternator or generator system?) and am not certain what the issue is. Ive checked most connections for shorts that would be draining it but have found none.

I'm assuming there must be some kind of a voltage regulator, could this go bad and prevent the battery from charging while riding? if so where is it on the bike and what does it look like?

Any help would be much appreciated.
