When I switch on the ignition the brake light comes on without the levers being depressed, the bike has been fine for 3 years, and wondered if it could be one of the switches mounted on each of the levers, maybe a stuck contact???

I can't seem to find a means of decoding this VIN and I'd like to get the info so I can list the motorcycle in a classified ad. The VIN is JYA15E008DA100135.

Thanks for any help you can give.

I've been riding my Honda CRF230F (my first dirtbike) for about a year now. I feel completely comfortable on it, and can ride just about anywhere without a problem.

I'm planning on taking the MSF course this fall, getting my liscence, and then getting a street bike in the spring. For complete newbies (never been on a bike with an engine...), the common suggestions are 250-500 Ninjas and Suzuki GS500F's, but in light of my experience in the dirt, would a new ('07) Honda CBR600RR be too much bike for me? I understand that it's exponentially faster than my tame 230cc trailbike, but I don't ride like a maniac, and I try to keep reasonable speeds at all times.

They say you can buy fuel injection clearner or some sort of fuel system clearner but i'm not sure. One person said it might be too strong and hurt parts in the engine. Any recommendations or should i just wait to get the money and have it serviced by a yamaha dealer?

That type of motorcycle looks totally uncomfortable to me - and hard to steer. Just wondering what the attraction is to some people for that style of motorcycle.

The dealer told me to take it easy until after the 500 mile service. But obviously while on the highway I cant drive slowly due to safety reasons.

My kids ( 21,,19,,16) think my newly aquired 87 Electraglide classic should have all its factory fitted accessories ( faring which houses most of the electronics, panniers and rear box with radio arial ) stripped off and make it look more streamline. I think it looks fine as a classic that it is and believe that originality has its benefits. I like the way Milwalkee intended it to look. What do you think.

I'm loading up my Honda VT750DC on a Uhaul 5x10 flatbed next weekend. I've loaded up bikes on motorcycle trailers before that have rails and a way to secure the front wheel so it doesn't turn, so tying down a motorcycle isn't that new to me. I just need some tips on how to secure the front wheel such as this on the Uhaul flatbed, or is it even necessary?

hi this is a 1982 yamaha xt200j and had been recently restored..we finally got it running...most of the time. well, here we go., to get it running the first time i have to rev the throttle a little bit and kick. if that doesnt work then i put a little gas in it and then do that again...that usually gets it running. (all with the choke on). Then, once it is running i have to rev the throttle or else it will die(this part< is with the choke pushed in after running.) then as soon as i put it in gear (clutch in) it starts to die so i have to almost pop the clutch to get it going...then when i slow down from about third gear to stop..(with the clutch in) it dies........after getting it started again i was coming back home going along merrily at a steady speed (30) when,......the revs just slowly went RRRRRrrrrrr.....(down).and died. i am dumbfounded about that one but non the less..oh and i do have seafoam running through the tank currently. all help appreciated.

I bought this bike recently, and an idiot dropped it when I turned my back. Since then, the oil light has been on. I stood the bike up straight and added almost of quart of oil to reach the proper fill level, but yet the light stays on. Could this just be faulty electrical, because the bike is 25 years old? Or could running it be terrible for the engine? I haven't been riding it since the light has been on.

bike acts like it wants to cut out as i open the throttle--bike has two brothers slip on pip[e--dont know if its been jetted--with stock air filter that was in it i would say probably NO what can i do to try to tune it-make it run correct now that it cuts out with the KN filter in it---KN says jetting-tuning may be required? what can i try first and if not what can i do for sure to fix this new problem (bike is excellent shape never had mech probs or anything before the KN went in)

changed rear tire on R6 and everything is tight-secure as i go down the road it feels little draggy-not as smooth as with old tire...when i installed tire we put valve stem in appropriate place(area w paint dot)-it also happened to be opposite the stick on wheel weights that were already on the cycle...when i go down the road i get a wobble feeling in back...just enough to scare me...what do i check first? I know the axle lineup marks on the back are off 1 tiny notch on the right side--mark 8 and the left side is at mark 9 (were talking 1 cm)could this be thee whole problem? OR is most likely the tire just needs balanced? also i heard i can static balance the rear tire on the back with brakes still attached---help! help! thanks...

My bike has a lot of rust on the downpipes/headers. I was wondering what the best way to remove this and get them looking nice again was? Could sanding them be dangerous to the pipes?

Where else could there be rust on the bike?

Thanks,
Jeff
