Usually, you will replace both grips.
Note that they are not the same size. The throttle side is larger, as it fits over a tube, and that tube turns on the handle bar.
The throttle one you must be careful with, as the throttle tube is usually plastic, and it can be broken.
Often they are installed with glue. Many ideas are around as to what works best on dissolving the glue. I use hot water and a flat-blade screwdriver.
Work it under the leading edge of the grip and then work it around as much as possible. Pouring hot (boiling) water over the grip intermittently softens the grip itself and makes it easier to stretch. I have yet to find one that did not respond, although some do take longer, and take more patience.
If it is still too difficult, and you have no plans to re-use the grip, you can run a sharp knife along it lengthwise, then peel it off.
The left side is done the same way, (they are normally glued) although if you have cut away the throttle side, you may as well do the same right away, and save on frustration.
For installation, I also soak the new grip in boiling water to make it softer and more flexible, and then slip it on.

Take a razor knife and hold it at a slight angle to slit the grips you want to remove. By angle I mean tilted slightly to the side soas not to cut too deep into the plastic on the throttle side. Then peel the grip off.
The harder part is installing thenew grips. The one for the throttle side has the larger hole of course. They dont go back on very easy. I've found the best way to do it is to pour some denatured alcohol in the grip so it gets temporarily slick then jam the thing on before all the alcohol evaporates. I doubt you would have to use any adhesive. But if one does slip back when on you or lossens some, then you can just put adhesive on the exposed part and slid it back up.

A couple different ways. If you don't plan on using the grip again, you can take a knife and cut the grip off the throttle housing by making a straight cut, then peel it off, Or take an air hose nozzle, and shoot air between the rubber grip and plastic throttle, and the rubber grip will lift off easy. To install use air again with some grip cement to slide on. Go to a gas station if you don't have a air nozzle.

Let a qualified mechanic do it. The throttle cables have to be loosened up to get it off, then re-adjusted. If you don't know what you're doing, you can really screw things up.
