My bike has a lot of rust on the downpipes/headers. I was wondering what the best way to remove this and get them looking nice again was? Could sanding them be dangerous to the pipes?

Where else could there be rust on the bike?

Thanks,
Jeff

There is a new website that I just found that deals with everything rust and corrosion, and they even have a whole section on bikes! Www.CorrosionConnection.com , maybe it will be helpful to you, it tells you how to remove rust from chrome and from the body and how to prevent it. Good luck!

If the rust is surface only you can polish it off.Mothers mag and alum polish will remove the rust and not harm the bike. This can be used on all chrome parts to clean and protect them.It takes time to clean chrome you will love what this stuff can do.It also has no grit to harm the chrome.

Get progressively finer polishing compounds (3 is usually enough), and get polishing!
