I'm a dedicated Harley rider now a days, but having owned over 25 motorcycles over the years, I think I can say you can trust my judgment. Yes, the shadow is a good bike. It's very quiet, dependable, gets good mileage and didn't have any real obvious flaws or recalls. a 750cc motor is more than adequate for both street and highway riding. The longest single ride I took on a Honda 750 was 2400 miles. They hold up very well. Just stay on top of the regular maintenence, and don't be afraid to change the oil and filter every 2000 miles instead of the longer periods recommended by Honda. I do that on every bike I have ever owned and found that I had much better service life on the motors. Good luck, and ride safe

I have a 2001 VT750DC which is the original chain driven version and my only complaint about it is the chain. My father has the shaft driven shadow 1100 and he loves the shaft. If the new shaft driven 750's ride anything like mine I'm sure it's an amazing bike. If I could afford to trade mine in right now I would. There is less maintenance issues with the shaft too. All around it's a great bike and has no problem keeping up with the big boys. Don't get me wrong though I would love more power if I could afford that too, I am a man, the VTX1300's, and 1800's are both shaft driven as well and have much much more power. Honda bikes in general are excellent bikes and I would recommend every single one of them.

Ive ridden motorcycles all my existence. the size of the motorbike won't be the issue. the issue is the ability, and for goodness sake you may understand you're no longer driving an vehicle. you're of adequate length to rigidity this motorbike yet no longer something is greater effective than experience. i began out driving motorcycles at age 5. I stayed on airborne dirt and dust motorcycles till i grew to become into 14 as quickly as I have been given my first street motorbike. I bought my final motorbike while an previous woman almost killed me. i does no longer purchase a motorbike on line for my first motorbike. i might seem domestically and discover a motorbike that i could pass bodily see and attempt rigidity. With time and experience you will understand what to seem for in a motorbike and could be greater waiting to make a good determination. My suggestion too is to discover a sort that has a shaft rigidity. The 04 shadows had chain drives and mutually as some human beings swear by utilizing chains there is lots greater upkeep in touch. Ie... lubing the chain, tightening the chain and so on.
