My friend & I are having a bet, but since we can't go around testing the theory, I though it best to ask here.

What exactly happens when you slash/stab a car's tire? Is there a difference between stabbing the treads vs. the white wall?

Also, is there anything hazardous about it, like pieces of rubber flying out from the internal pressure?

Not sure how many people know about this, but I figure someone has to work at an auto body shop or Discount Tire...

My car battery is currently dead. When I jump the car, the engine will run for a few minuites, and the electricial system will start to die. The battery is only 2 years old, and I jumped a tractor trailor truck with it just a month ago no problem. The problem gets even worse when I turn on the headlights, and the engine will die if I let off the throttle. When all the lights (including clock) dim down to off, the engine will sputter, then quit even with the throttle down. I am thinking it is the alternator not chargeing, but the problem just started all of a sudden, and I would like some input before I go buy the new alternator.

When driving my car i hear noises, rattling noises coming from my tire on the drivers side. My car doesn't shake nor is it that old since i only bought it brand new last year and only has 12k miles on it but the noise is really annoying. I have tried taking the tire off and putting it back on. When I look at it, nothing looks obviously out of place but I put the tire back on and tighten it and still when i drive i still hear a noise coming from that tire. Does anyone have any suggestions as to just what might be causing this and what I can do to fix it. Thanks.

I own a 1992 325i and I have a sound system in it which draws quite a bit of extra power, and just this past week it has drained the alternator. Or at least, this is my guess. It is only an 80 amp alternator and it should be upgraded I know, but this never happened on any of my other cars which had even weaker alternators (around 60-70 amps). So anyways I think i need a new alternator because: it has stalled and not turned right back on, the lights are getting really dim, its only getting 12 volts at idle speed (but also the car idles lower than normal, so much that the battery light goes on while its idling but turns off when rpm's are up past 1,000). My boss says it was a shorted out battery, but the battery is new. But I almost suspect it was the battery because when this first happened, my radio and check engine light were fickering on and off during idle like something was shorting out. The battery connnections are tight, nothing wrong there.I cant type more,I hope this explains it

I need to replace my valve cover gasket because its leaking oil, and I have some of the high temp gasket maker (in the red tube).

I'm wondering though, is this merely a gasket dressing, or does it actually "make" a gasket, eliminating the need to buy a $30 gasket from the part store?

When I touch the door handles, it goes off. I think I need to hit the panic button but the remotes are broken. It's not a factory alarm, it's something called a Omron I think.

How the heck do I disable this thing, will taking of a fuse work? Or do I need to find a dealer to do it?

After sitting for 5 days my car won't start. It turns over, but won't catch. I got some quick start spray for the air filter to see if that helps and noticed a hose from the filter to the engine is broken in half. would this keep it from catching?

I'm having alot of trouble fixing a bad idle and misfiring during strain in a 1994 Chevy 3.4L FI V6. I've replaced plugs, wires, ignition coil, both oxygen sensors AND ran some Lucas fuel system cleaner/lubricant and it still runs the same! An anylizer pointed to a possible bad IAC valve. Can anyone give me some common symptoms of a bad IAC? I have a feeling an IAC will not fix all of the problem...would like some advice before I invest in one. Thanks to all!
