sometimes they can be saved ,but from personal experience i have found that when one locks up its pretty well junk,the blocks get damaged from this happening,i have seen a lot of people spend a lot of money on old engines trying to save them,only to loose that amount of money plus more from buying another engine,that choice would be yours to make,a machine shop can tell you how bad its damaged and if its actually worth repairing,good luck.

Really it all depends on what happened to it just before the engine seized.
But if you look at the cost of a rebuild on the current engine and compare it to a new rebuild swap out old engine (if any good) Would be less expensive in the long and short run.

With older engines, I've seen them do OK about 1 in five. Newer engines..... absolutely not!!

Well we used to free them up (older engines) but it really all depends on WHY it siezed up, if the rings then you could get lucky

overhaul, if seized parts will need to be machined, best to find another engine
