After sitting for 5 days my car won't start. It turns over, but won't catch. I got some quick start spray for the air filter to see if that helps and noticed a hose from the filter to the engine is broken in half. would this keep it from catching?

My car is a 1998 Chrysler Town & Country Mini Van.

I never got the quick start in the filter because of the stupid filter design in the model and it getting dark outside.

There is no broken belt, just the hose.

Not at all. The hose you are looking at recycles the fumes from the engine into the filter.

A broken belt will not prevent it from start,, providing the battery is in good shape. (although is not a good idea to run the car without a belt.

This is a few things to consider or a few things I would like to know: Year, make, model and how many miles are on the car. Was it running five days ago and how well. I would check the battery to make sure it has a proper charge (You can use a volt meter or take it out and take it to a parts store that can check it for you) if the battery is good and you have over 60,000 miles on the car then I would check the timing belt because that is what it sounds like to me. The crankshaft will turn over but if the belt is broken then the camshaft will not turn. The camshaft opens and closes the intake and exhaust valves. If the belt is not broken then it could be a crank sensor. I wish I knew the answers to the first few things and I think I could be a little more help. Good luck!

The belt shouldn't stop you from starting the car. The hose that is broken won't make a difference either. Depending on which belt is broken, it may also power things power steering, AC compressor, and your water pump or alternator.

The belt should replaced before you drive the car, or you could cause some serious damage to the car.

good luck.
