The honey comb structure that form the cat can become blocked over time, especially if there is something wrong with the engine. If this is the case then replacing the cat will give an initial power improvement. However if the problem with the engine is not sorted the new cat will soon become blocked.

A new cat for a Vectra. Sounds like a good swap. Go for it.

As long as your car is passing the M.O.T. emissions test, you won't notice a thing by fitting a new one.
As a matter of fact, your car would go a lot faster if you didn't have a cat at all!

If it is not restricted, you wouldn't notice anything. If it is restricted, you would notice a difference. You cannot remove it under current federal laws except for exhaust repair or replacement.

Cats usually crush in onthem self and cause a restriction on the exhaust . If this is so ...remove it and fit a section of pipe without it ....only req for MOT....one of the first mods to do to a car is to remove the cat to make it faster....
PS if the cat is removed dont throw it away ....pretty good PX value

If the old one is in good condition, then you wouldn't notice any difference. However, if the old is plugged up and causing a restriction, then yes you shold notice a difference.
good luck.
