3.1 V6 engine, have replaced starter and solenoid, new battery, will not start with key. It can be jumped from the solenoid, runs for about 3 seconds, then dies. All dash lights come on when key is forward, but when trying to start, it makes no sound at all. Security light flashes when key is in also. The light actually started flashing before this problem, then it was only able to be started off solenoid approx. 3 more times, now it will do as i said before, start from solenoid, run 3 seconds, die. Do not have funds to take to dealer, new tranny, new motor can't afford to junk the car, please help!!!

The car ir a renualt campus 5 (no laughin) and I believe it to be the brakes. Most probably the rear brakes. The noise is coming from the back left and is more prominent when turning left and when turning right it sometimes disappears altogether.

My thoughts are the back brakes are seazed and what I need to know is what is the best way to release them? All help gratefully received.

I took my car into Pep Boys because I needed a simple brake job. After a couple days I decided to move my car somewhere else after a whole series of events that I'll spare getting into for the moment. Needless to say I felt they were being dishonest and giving me the run around. My car was running and drivable when I brought it in, but I had to have it TOWED somewhere else because the car wouldn't start and they tore up my break system in the rear.

My question is: is it possible to have the brake drum "fuse" with the brake shoe? I was told this happened by two guys at Pep Boys. When I called around to a few other places they said, "No, it's no possible because it's a moveable part connecting to a non-moveable part, so if it happened you wouldn't have been able to drive it to Pep Boys in the first place." Another person told me that they've only heard it happening on VW Bugs.

I have a 2003 Saturn, could this have happened to it?

i have a 1997 jeep wrangle se with a 4 cyl inline engine with manual transmission and whenever i start my car the engine makes kind of a thump and my shift (which is usually in neutral) goes from side to side rapidly and then when the engine is idling on its own without my key pressing the ignition it runs fine and works perfectly. but i am worried that something is wrong with my vehicle! i have looked up to the definition of spark knock as that is the only kind of negative condition that my manual says anyhting about that has to do with the engine i do not think it is that as mine only does it on start up and only for a split second (as when it turns over) i will put higher octane fuel in and im hoping that being a 4 cyl its doing that because it is off balance and turning over creates alot of vibration i just got this vehicle a few days ago and just want to know if this is notmal operation as none of my other 4 cyl cars do this. thankyou for any responces i hope nothing is wrong

The gears ride on bearings, so they spin on the differential shaft. If the engine is off but the car is coasting, the differential shaft can turn inside the gears while the gears and the layshaft are motionless.(so the gears, if i am in the third gear for example , don't spin the layshaft and the engine? what means then that is a engine brake?) Could then the wheel to spin the engine? thks

I had my engine done before by a mechanic, but my engine went bad to worst. Now I plan to open it up, I am an eager man to learn and have tools and basic understanding of the engine. It is a 2E Toyota engine used as taxi cab.

The situation? I have coolant leak causing milky motor oil, as if I have low power, no smoke on the pipe, engine heats sometimes, do not consume oil, but air pressure is too much on the cylinderhead cover, and oil now squirts out of the dipstick.

Can somebody good enough help me do the work?

My car failed the NOx part of the emissions test in New York City. The limit is 2.00 gpm and my car recorded a 2.35 gpm. The CO and HC pertions of the test passed quite easily.
Is this something a tune up would cure.
My car is a 1987 Chevy Caprice with a 4.3 v6.
I'm going to change the oil, plugs, air filter tomorrow. Hopefully it will pass on Monday.

This happened suddenly and supposedly there was brake work done last year sometime but, I replaced the front pads, which were barely there, and the master cylinder and the brakes are still going to the floor. I will check the back ones tomorrow but I am at a loss...I need to try and fix this P.O.C before Monday. Any ideas what could be the problem before I waste any more time fixing the wrong things? Even though it needs to be done.

Alright, I drive a tractor trailer for a freight company. Of course, there are no radios in the truck. What we(drivers) do is build a box with speakers and a car radio mounted in it. There are bannana plugs on the dash to get power from. Now The only problem is that everytime you shut the truck down the radio will lose it's memmory (presets, Volume level, etc). I could get an analog radio but that is just out of the question. I was thinking more along the lines of a secondary power source. Like connecting a 9V battery connector to the memmory wire so when the truck is off it will still hold it's memmory. Seeing that the radio won't work without this wire being hooked up to the trucks power I would have to incorporate a diode of some sort so I don't fry the battery. What kind of diode should I use and Where should I put it in the circuit? I can't mess with the truck, so whatever I do has to be done in my radio box. Thanks for any info....

Just recently (probably because its starting to warm up outside), my car has started to have some overheating issues. It only happens when I'm driving more than about 4-5 miles (makes sense) while in suburban stop-and-go type traffic (i.e. speed up to 45, traffic light turn red just in front of me, stop, repeat). It does not happen in situations where i am consistently going at a relatively constant rate of speed (haven't taken it out on the highway though - has a few other issues then).
I've had the car for just under 2 years (and it was taken care of well by the previous owner), and have not had this issue before.
Thanks for any help.

so i tried changing the cam gears on my care (1987 acura integra) basically the car used to run good. or atleast ran. its basically a tuner. but the problem im having is that i tried putting in the gears and i took off the upper part of the timing belt and then put in the gears, making sure they stayed at TDC at all times. but when i put the belt back on and turned on the car, it sounded like a lawn mower, it made huge amounts of noise and was unusually loud. im not sure whats wrong with it, i have a feeling that i might have moved the first piston out of its TDC position. and now i have no idea how to make it run good again, the car is infront of my house so i cant drive it anywhere without risking the engine. does anyone know what to do to fix this? thanks
