Vehicle terms. And how do you tell if your vehicle is truly running rich when there are multiple things that could contribute to the "symptoms"?

Will getting a cold air intake fix the problem?

The gas to air mixture is off. You have too much gas entering the pistons. Good luck.

Running rich means that there is more fuel than air being used than the normal ratio. A common cause of this in the the newer vehicles is a bad oxygen sensor which will usually read lean (less fuel than air) this will cause the computer to overcompensate when it doesn't need to causing a rich situation.
symptoms of running rich are

rough or uneven idle
sometimes stalling
bad gas mileage

It would be best to have it tested with a computer to be sure if or which component is causing the problem.

Running rich means that the air/fuel mixture is not right, the car is adding too much fuel to the mixture. The opposite of running rich is running lean which means there's not enough fuel in the mixture. Running rich can gum up the cylinders and running lean can burn pistons because the cylinders get too hot. There's a long diagnostic list for a rich condition, I'd start with the MAF sensor though, then go on to the fuel system, like the fuel pressure regulator.

Running away from a bank with a bag full of money : )
Just kidding.
Running rich is a condition that is created by an improper air fuel mixture in the combustion chamber of your engine.
The proper air/fuel mixture is 14.7 parts of air (molecules) to 1 part fuel (molecule) this mixture is called the stoichiometric mixture value for combustion engines.

A rich condition is caused by air restrictions or a sensor that monitors air flow into the engine reporting the improper value to the engine control unit.

Check your air filter and air channels to the engine. If they are okay have a repair shop read out fault codes. Your engine computer should give some indication of the problem.

Running rich is that you have too much fuel in your air/fuel mixture.

You must increase the air intake of the vehicle.

Maybe there is a decrease of the air going in the car?

running rich means that you are getting too much fuel and not enough air into the cylinders. You should be getting some black smoke out of the exhaust. The engine should be running rough and not idling right. It can foul your spark plugs and plug your converter. You should be getting an error code on the dash.

If a vehicle is running rich, it either means it is using too much oxygen or too much fuel per stroke of each piston. This is usually a computer problem (in newer cars), and is best diagnosed by a mechanic.
