the Ford 2.3 Turbo sohc is a very stout assembly and is good for over 200k, there were lots of them put into the Thunderbirds of the 80's. They have less moving parts than their dohc conterparts, so naturally will last longer

i own a repair shop ,and a single head cam will last a lot longer than a dual over head cam engine will, all makers of these engines have had many problems with keeping and maintaining a steady oil pressure on them for both cams, even the new ones right now run a low oil pressure compared to to a single cam engine, the older model ones was really bad about ruining the upper half of the engine because of lack of oil pressure, and they have improved them a little over the years, but still to this day they do have problems from some of them, believe me i have seen my share of bad engines, and the most i see usually are dual cam engines that go bad, good luck,i hope this helps.

Actually the single overhead cam has less moving parts so it should technically last longer but truthfully both last about the same amount of time with proper maintaince ....

Technically, they should last the same length of time. in reality, however, the single-cam engine will probably last longer, since it probably isn't a sports model, and therefore makes less power and will be driven more gently.
