where does the oil filter go on a 2003 saturn ion go? What tools are required for the filter change?

on the engine at the bottom lh side and ull need a filter wrench

like most cars it will be on the side facing the transmission. If you do not mind getting messy you can take a screwdriver and poke a hole in it and turn it like that. I used to buy the oil filter devices to take them off but was forever losing them.
You just need a crescent wrench to take the bolt from the oil pan off and a sharp screwdriver and a couple of rags to clean the mess up.

It looks like it just snaps in place.
