I go to one that's about $100 to replace my something-or-other and he says that he'll do it fine. I go to another one and that guy says that the other mechanic is really low quality and won't fix the problem and this one is $175. The $100 dollar mechanic says tho other one is trying to cheat me of my money

Which one should I trust and how do I tell which will be best for my car?

The car will not pass an emmissions test in GA with the light on. The car runs fine but the light remains on. Its a 2001.

97 Lincoln Continental was showing on the display it was too hot and said service engine,no sign that it was overheating and within 2-3 minutes it would go cool and the engine warning would go away, then within 2 weeks it started to turn itself off and shortly the belt broke. well I had a neiborhood mechanic look at it was the thermastat so it was changed with the belt.on his diagnostic it said nothing else was wrong with it. It was ok for a few days, within a week the display started to read hot and engine warning came back. Again no physical signs that the car was overheating. My boyfriend said it needed oil so I went to discount auto and they said the oil was full and anymore would do damage, but the coolant was empty and he said the belt was the wrong size and lose. The next day it started making a tick noise getting louder and turning off when too long ie a red light. Going fast it's very faint. If you start it without driving it's fine the problem is when you drive it.

I have a1976 Chevy pickup. 350 with a 3-speed tranny. After driving it for a bit, I hear this noise like you would get if a small tree branch was rubbing against the fan...shick shick shick. It speeds up with the motor. It's loudest under the truck. Just had a new clutch and pressure plate, throwout bearing and flywheel surfacing last month. It doesn't make the noise when first started. Any ideas? Thanks.

Ford makes it almost impossible to get to these wires. It looks like one will need to remove the EFI unit on top of the engine to get to the 3 wires on the driver side of the engine.

I have a 2001 Chevy Prizm. Yesterday, I stopped at the drug store for a short visit. When I got back to the car, I tried to start it and all I heard were "clicks" AAA came out to jump start the car. I replaced the battery this morning (I think I was due for a new battery anyway). The car has about 73,500 miles on it. I travel about 20 miles (round trip) to get to work each day.

The car is running fine (for now). Should I be concerned about the altenator? Will I need to get another battery if the altenator is bad?

I have a 99 Plymouth Breeze 2.0 L 105K miles. Latley the oil light has been coming on. I just had it changed with 10/40 Maxlife 4.5 qt and the light is still on.

It comes on at an idle 6k rpm, but the slightest bit of accelleration and it goes off and stays off until I stop or am in park.

What gives?

This is totally weird but my car seems to attract spiders. I've had the car for 4 years now and every few months I find a spider in my car. In the last two weeks I have found 4 large spiders, including a black widow in my car. My car is kept clean and I dont park near any bushes or trees so I dont know how they get into my car.

I either spray or squish them, but they really freak me out and lately I am afraid to even drive my car at night. Does anyone have any solutions to this bizaar issue?

I have a 93 Dodge Caravan that the seat belt is retracted and will not release so that you can wear it. It is on the drivers side and with all the seatbelt laws that are out I'm unable to use this vehicle.
