First check the oil. Second look at the oil filter. After 600 miles it should visibly look fairly clean. If in doubt, change the oil and oil filter. Look at the oil pan and the oil drain plug, does it look oily? Where you park the car, do you see large oil stains?

The low oil pressue sensor might be faulty. How old is the car or how many miles on it? Newer the car, the more likely it is just low oil. Over 250,000 miles...might be the oil pump. In between, the oil sensor.

Worse case, oil pump is going bad. This is not good. What ever you do, if the oil light comes on, stop the car immediately. An oil pump can be fixed, trashing the engine won't be fixed. It is expensive to fix, but fixable.

If you are having a low oil pressure problem, you should hear the valve lifters making more of a clacking sound. Listen for it, or have someone who knows listen.

For the oil sensor to signal, you have to be more than a quart down in oil, or the oil filter is plugged, or the oil pump is damaged.

If the oil or temperature sensor comes on, stop the car immediately. I mean right now. Shut the car's engine off and call someone.

My guess is whoever changed your oil left the old oil filter gasket in place. Now you have 2 gaskets and it won't seal good. Check the underside of your car... you'll be able to tell real quick because a lot of your oil has been sprayed underneath at the filter from the pressure. Add more oil to the crankcase after checking the level and immediately get it back to the shop and tell them what has happened.
The same thing happened to me not long ago. Now when I go for an oil change I have them show me the old filter and gasket afterwards. The fact you mentioned the recent change and mileage is about right for it to be deplenished and trigger the light.

Check your oil level. Your oil pump could be going bad. To be real sure about things install gauges instead of the lights. When idling and the engine is hot the oil pressure will be lower than when first started.

Check your oil level, quick quick quick! Usually the oil light indicates low oil level or pressure, neither of which is good. You could have a small leak or the oilpan drain plug might not have been replaced quite tight enough (it shouldn't be super-tight but not quite tight enough and oil can slowly leak out). And driving your car without enough oil = very bad thing.

first off, let me make a suggestion to you that in all future circumstances that light comes on, pull to the side of the road immediately, shut the engine off, and find out WHY!!! You're playing a very dangerous game of russian roulette when you continue to drive the vehicle!!! Can get very expensive!!!!!!
The oil light can come on for several different reasons all having devestaing results if you continue to drive! You need to check your oil level, oil filter, oil pump, oil pressure sending unit, and then it gets much more complicated to which you will need your mechanic! Just remember, shut that engine OFF if that light comes on, don't just keep driving!!!!!!!!!!

Check the oil, if it low top it off to full. Then look at the Oil Filter and Drain Plug to be sure they not leaking. You should see drops of oil hanging from them if they leak. If, they tight and not leak there other things can cause oil to be used by the car, one is the PVC Valve, but, there other things too.

you need oil?
After an oil change you should check the levels after about a week or so, they only put enough in to register on the dip stick thus, saves money
Check your oil and add if necessary

Have you checked your oil level? Have you been noticing any oil leaks in your garage or driveway? Otherwise, it might be a sensor or computer problem....
