I have a 1989 Ford Escort. As I was driving down the freeway it started to loose power and then it lost all power. It won't start, but it tries. The spark plugs spark, and it is getting fuel. When you dump fuel directly into the intake (or carborator) it will start, but once that fuel is gone, it goes back to clicking when trying to start it. We've checked the battery, starter, alternator. Any Advice????

This is only recent. If it is turned off and the key is then turned to the first "notch" then I can put it in neutral and then start the car and shift into reverse, drive, etc. Is is just annoying and needs to be fixed!

Hi, Recently my car began to overheat on the interstate. the gauge went way past the high mark and i had to stop the car. I turned the heater on and a blast of hot air came out then cold air started blowing even though i put it on the highest temperture. I eventually drove home and my car is constantly overheating. i added coolant and water to the radiator overflow tank and ran the car on idle. even on idle the car still overheats. the coolant tank is full and the heater is still blowing out cold air. can someone tell me why this is happening?

I need to cut 2 out of 6 cylinders on a hot rod engine retro fitted in a power boat. I want to do this while shifting from neutral to forward or reverse since there is no clutch. As the engine idle RPM is a bit too fast, I want to cut 2 cylinders while shifting to reduce the impact on the stern drive mechanism. Any ideas... a regular toggle switch on the spark plug wires won't do the trick on the high voltage ignition ...

paid already an ungodly amount of money, they kept the car for 8 months now and still give me the run-around about needing more parts and / or more money to fix it.
I'm sick of it - what can I do? Any good attorneys out there?

My car starter spins if the igniton switch is bad would it still turn the starter? I have replaced the distributor 3 times in three weeks I don't think this is my problem. Do anyone one know if there is a relay or something between the ignition switch and the distributor causeing my car not to fire. I have my timing check and its fine. Will the starter spin if its bad? My batt is new. The car is a 1990 Acura Integra GS. Sometimes it fires and sometime it don't. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a 1990 Nissan Sentra, and it passed smog with no problems on May 16, 2006. It runs perfectly, doesn't make noise, doesn't leak nothing, my girlfriend and I went in to get it smogged and they said something was interfering...she didn't drive it all that often, hardly ever. Do Catalyic (sp?) converters make noise? Do they affect how the car runs? Could it be anything else at all? We have someone interested in buying it, so we need to get it smogged.
