I was told that there is a sealent or something in that nature. That I can use around the water ports to help seal. What is it called

No sealer on head gaskets. Just make sure the block and head are clean and dry before installing the gasket. Make sure you set the head down gently to avoid scratches or gouges to the gasket. Check with the vehicles manufacturer to see if the bolts need to be changed, on some of the newer stuff, they can't be re-used due to "stretching".

newer head gaskets are designed to be used WITHOUT sealer inless specified by the manurfacture. using sealer on them will affect heat transfer from the head and block and will cause the gasket to fail sooner.
