I was blest with the 2.5, 4 cilaner engin. This is the second time I have replaced the head gasket, I was wondering what is the purpes of the extra metal plate under the valv cover? It is a fight to get the valv cover back on.( Who the hell in Dodge thoth the K car engine was suffichiant for a truck? )

its just an oil baffle to help prevent the valve cover from leaking because thats a piss poor design

and chrysler didnt think, this is why they even came out with the 2.5L

That ectra plate is supposed to be the oil diverter, and to also help from oil splashing out of the PCV, and oil fill areas. I understand what you mean by that thing. Hope you get it on ok.

that metal plate controls the oil to make sure of better lubrication

the extra plate is for xtra oiling for the cam and lifters

Fix it then sell it, don't waste any more cash on it.
