It may just need some WD-40.

It depends on the make and model of the car you drive.

You either have a cable clutch or a hydraulic clutch. If you look up under your dashboard you will either see a cable or a rod running through the firewall.

If you've got a cable clutch and it's recently started squeeking I'd suggest getting the cable replaced (should be relatively cheap). Spraying WD-40 may fix the squeeking, but there's every chance that the cable is about to break and will leave you stranded somewhere.

If you've got a hydraulic clutch, check around the rod running through the firewall for dampness or a brake fluid smell. (Hydraulic clutches use the same fluid that your brake system uses) You may have a leaking master cylinder OR the linkage (where the rod attaches to the pedal) may need to be greased. Get a good silicone grease, WD-40 is not sufficient and will actually "attract" dirt.

Good luck!

Its telling you to spray a little lube on the linkage, under the dash, and or cable.
