I fixed a known problems with the fuel pump connector under the driver seat, and it seem to work for a while but then it began to do it again.

Here are the details,

1. no PCM codes, at the beging it had a code for the evaporator system but after fixing the connector problem it went away.
2. Start up, get going and a while later, most of the time after it is warm it starts to sputer and the RPM goes erratic and some times it even dies. It almost acts like when you run out of gas!!!
3. Some times it happens when you try to punch the gas and go fast, other times it does it even if you are nice to it.

Please help!!!!!!

If I sustain speed of 130mph for more that a few seconds (5-10) I loose my power steering. Also if I reach 150+ even for an instant the same occours. Ocasionally the power steering will start working again but most of the time not until the car has set (not running ) for at least 20 min. I have no water in the pump, have not changed pulley sizes, and the pump does not cavitate.

I've got a Toyota Corollo 1.3 1991, which I've had for about a month.

The car's great, but it consumes way more oil than what's normal. I've checked it for leakage – no oil on the ground.

I admit I know next to nothing about car's, but I sure do know one thing: repairs are expensive.

So, before turning my car in to a garage, I'm asking you guys: What could be wrong?

My battery light came on while driving and I read around that it is most likely that my alternator is going bad, already bad or the battery is bad. I am going to go to Auto Zone tomorrow and have them do a voltage reading, over the battery and the alternator itself and also see if they can hear if the bearings inside the alternatnor need to be fixed. (I read that if they are making a metallic noise that's what needs to be done and I think that would be cheaper than having to buy a whole new or refurbished one).
Getting on to the question. I wanted to know where abouts the alternator is located on my 2000 Plymouth Neon in order to take a look and a listen myself. Also I wanted to know if it was possible if I got a step by step instruction of how to replace the alternator if need be if I could just do it myself being a person who knows nothing about cars. Does it take special tools and a lot of work and muscle (I am a small female)?
I hope that the question made sense...

I already know PV=nRT, and how to calculate the gas ratios, stoichiometry of the moles of liquid --> gas, the increase in air pressure, and the (pie)(r)^2 Area of the piston. How much gasoline is squirted into each cylinder/stroke ???
