if you have added a stereo and amp to your car the alternator may not be able to handle the extra load on the system, you will have to replace it with a higher amp alternator.if not you may have a voltage regulator going bad in the alternator or a battery that is starting to go bad

Have your battery tested,,,it may be the source of the extra resistance because of cells shorting out,,or heavy calcium buildup,,which would cause the Alternator output wire to get hotter because of increased resistance.

try tightening the wire also clean battery terminals.
