I fixed a known problems with the fuel pump connector under the driver seat, and it seem to work for a while but then it began to do it again.

Here are the details,

1. no PCM codes, at the beging it had a code for the evaporator system but after fixing the connector problem it went away.
2. Start up, get going and a while later, most of the time after it is warm it starts to sputer and the RPM goes erratic and some times it even dies. It almost acts like when you run out of gas!!!
3. Some times it happens when you try to punch the gas and go fast, other times it does it even if you are nice to it.

Please help!!!!!!

1st of all rosebud, the montana is a fuel ,injected engine and a tier 2 system, it does not have a carb. so get out of the dark ages and come into the 21st century. 2nd, dave you are right about one thing and that`s the 3.4 has intake problems, but i think that the issue here is a fuel delivery problem. a fuel pressure test will tell you where the problem lies. the vehicle should have around 35-45psi running and make sure you do the test with the engine warm. why you ask? is this not when the problem occurs when the vehicle is warm? your fuel filter could also be suspect so don`t forget to change it if you should happen to find you need a fuel pump( which you will). last but not least, hey rosebud, i am also old enough to remember carbs, but i never heard of one cracking between the barrels. can you give me any info on the problem. i would appreciate it.

You could have intake gasket leak those 3.4L .. 3400 engines are known for it. check your oil for a chocolateshake color or milky white. usually the oil fill cap will have it or the pcv valve which is in the front right of the valve cover. If thats the problem it will cost about $800 for a shop to do it. Or if you know someone who can do it cheaper. The Dexcool ruined the intake gasket since the coolant does not last for 5 years like its advertised. You can convert it to the old green stuff just make sure you flush the dexcool out really good. I did the intake on a 3400 3.4L engine and its really not that hard to do. cost me about $150 for parts and fluids to do the work myself. Or last resort see if the dealer will fix it due to known defect and have GM remiburse the cost.

ran into something similar to this before on a montana---peel back the carpet behind the driver seat after removing the 2nd door reveal moulding on the floor.underneath the carpet is a multiwired electrical connection that passes through the vehicle floorpan to the outside underside of the vehicle.this connection point is notorious for corrosion and poor conductivity.......and of course your fuel pump wiring runs through the connection..good luck~!

If it's a 4 barrel carb, it has a crack in the barrels. Which would cause it to sputter because it would be trying to fire between both barrels at the same time.

definately sounds like a fuel delivery problem...if you often run on near empty that would confirm it.....maybe look into a fuel line/injector flush...also change your fuel filter...it should be a cheap 5 dollar part
