If I sustain speed of 130mph for more that a few seconds (5-10) I loose my power steering. Also if I reach 150+ even for an instant the same occours. Ocasionally the power steering will start working again but most of the time not until the car has set (not running ) for at least 20 min. I have no water in the pump, have not changed pulley sizes, and the pump does not cavitate.

I would first suspect the power steering fluid has thinned to the point where it no longer is being moved by the pump or slipping by the seals in the slave cylinder. Heat issue. I have seen cars with coolers on P/S systems but cannot remember where. I would check with NASCAR folk, the closed ciruit folk run those kind of speeds.

It could be that the fluid is foaming a bit.

How old is the car and has the fluid ever been changed?

If not, remove as much as possible with a turkey baster and refill with proper fluid. It may not fix this problem, but it should still be changed, as the rack and pinion is very expensive to replace.

Is there a Checkers nearby. They have great stuff for that. I used it. The cheap stuff didn't work. It should be in a white bottle with checkered flags on it. I don't recall the name. It was about ten dollars. It worked pretty well. I hope this helps. :)

if you are going that fast how do you know you loose your power steering. even if you were going in an oval you wouldn't turn your wheel more than a few degrees.
