Nope..Just seem like it. All it does is help you go a few more miles than if you just filled it to the full mark

Filling your tank full means carry more weight and therefore you use more petrol although you fill up less often and therefore avoid stopping at garages.
Having a minimum amount in your tank means more trips to garages and has a negative effect on fuel. Motoring organizations recommend a happy balance of keeping the level between 1/4 and 3/4 full.
I cant see that it can make a whole lot of difference personally

filling the tank completely can only save you petrol if it means one less trip to the station.
I don't think it will make a great deal of difference.

It won't help, but it can hurt the emission system.
On some models, topping off the tank can overflow fuel into the charcoal canister, which is not good. This can result in damage to the canister and the constant smell of fuel.

I proved the opposite. My truck has a pin hole on the top of the tank, so when I fill it all the way up it leaks

no it does not your car will get the same mpg full or half full just with a full tank it seems like it does because most gas tanks are bigger at the top of them then the bottom

As far as I know it has never been proven. I don't believe it ever can be proven, though I have heard people make that claim.
