Brand new 1776cc engine. 009 distributor. Replaced points with electronic module. New wires, plugs, and coil. Cap and rotor have about 6 hours of run time on them.

Timing all seems good. about 7 degrees BTDC at 1000 RPM. 15-18 at 3500 RPM.

Could be a faulty wire, cap or plug. Switch #1 plug and wire with another and check. If #1 misses, put old cap back on and check again. After that -- look for ghosts.

this sounds like a plug wire or the plug itself. it has been known to get a bad plug or wire even tho it is new. try changing this out to see if this is the cause. since it is working most of the time-- it may be heating up and shorts out until itcools down then it works again. hope this helps

i had the problem in my 85 VW golf gti and the new cap and rotor had a hair line crack in it so i put in a new 1 again and the plugs and it fixed it

you need to check the ground on the distributor,,it may not be grounding real good,,this will make one mis fire once in a while,,i hope this help,s

see if you can wiggle the rotor shaft in the dist.
Could need bushings

Only #1 plug?

look for carbon tracks inside dist.cap
