I come with yet another car question. Today i test drove a 85 monte carlo. Car drove beautifully except when i brake, theres sort of a rumble on the front left side. When not braking the car is perfectly fine. Does this sound like a warped rotor or somethin worse.
Thanks,
Mcgee

Lately when we have gas in the car it ends up dieing somehow and doesn't want to start for a few minutes, then starts again. The fuel filter is new, it has oil I'm pretty sure, new heads and head gaskets. Why is it dieing like this? I put a gallon in today to drive it around the corner and it died on me. I don't know what it could be. Could it be fuel injectors, fuel pump...what????

Dodge motor, 318, v8, it locked up tight, wouldn't move. Put a lubicator down the spark plug holes to try loosening it up. Put a big wrench on the main pulley and the pulley now spins but the pistons don't move. So here is the q?, why does the main pulley stack turn but the pistons do not. I know why as I have already taken it apart. First correct answer will be chosen as best.

I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 litre. The other day as I was leaving home I heard a noise from the engine compartment and then noticed the A/C or power steering wasn't working. I turned around and went straight home and raised the hood. My serpentine belt was off the pullies and I noticed that the harmonic balancer had eased forward. Can anyone tell me why this happened and how to fix it?

Looking for someone who's driven or worked with both makes and can offer their opinion of which is better... cost, maintenance, warranty, operation, etc... Any unique quirks and such. Not too worried about the engine types since both companies offer the engine I prefer. Give me a reason to vote your answer as Best Answer. Thanks in advance.

Right now we're currently using an OLD mack with a PTO driven 5th wheel hitch and dual axles. Very inefficient.

--The light only blinked for about 3-4 seconds as I was idling on an uphill (I wasn't pressing the brake).
--This is the first time this has happened.
--The car has 167,000 miles.
--I recently hit the curb at 40 mph (got the struts replaced, and the car aligned). Is it related?

Here's what happened. I was feeling "jeepie" and decided to go off on some farm land. High grass, and sometimes a little sloshie here and there. I saw a trail that went off in the woods and looked challenging and it appeared that four wheelers have taken this trail so, my having a jeep, NO PROBLEM! I took this trail into the woods when now I'm confronted with what seemed to be mud puddles through-out the path. I have a jeep, NO PROBLEM! I guess I had too much faith in my jeep. The nose of my jeep sunk so fast however being in four wheel drive, I was able to manage a few more yards more which put me deeper in a tragedy! I'm spinning mud all over the place but ain't movin'. I was able to winch myself out one tree at a time so, this has been a long day. My only concern now is, my brakes are working very soft (spongy) like and hasn't gotten any better after 20 miles or so. What should I do if anything so I have normal breaks again? Thanx,

I have a 69 Corvette. The engine was rebuilt and they put a new manifold and a new carb on it that is too big. It now has an Edelbrock 1406 carb on it, but the air filter on it is designed for a hood scoop. The neck of it had to be cut down to fit it under the hood (which does NOT have a scoop). Does anyone know where I can get info on an air filter that I can put on it that will allow the proper airflow? It has to be a side intake/low profile filter that will fit on the 1406... Anyone?

p.s. I didn't do it, I bought it this way.
