THROTTLE is the word, but speaking as a mechanic, the definition you state isn't exactly accurate. The throttle plate in the carburator controls the amount of air flow through the venturi where the fuel is mixed with air, also known as the throat of the carburator. The amount of air flowing through the venturi controls the pressure which is what draws fuel into the airstream. The further open the throttle plate, the more air flows through the venturi and the lower the pressure in the throat of the venturi, the lower the pressure in the venturi, the more fuel flows. So, in a crude sense, the throttle plate does control fuel flow, but only indirectly, not in the direct sense of a water faucet controlling water flow in a sink through a variable restriction.

Throttle.
However the person writing the clue doesn't know much about engines, as a throttle generally controls the air flow, not the fuel flow.

For flow expenses that low, you will choose a pump designed for analytical purposes. The Cole Parmer Masterflex paristaltic pumps would artwork large for you through fact they are intense high quality and extremely comparatively cheap. you will choose a pump head, a force, and correctly suited tubing. in addition they have upload-ons like fittings, flow meters, and consider valves. Their on line catalog is annoying to envision, so i'd call them for suitable determination. good success!!!
