Maintenance & Repairs - August 2006

The battery light is still on, I thought it was the alternator going bad because my battery would go dry (battery is good, had it tested), so I replace the alternator but still the battery light is on.
I am not sure if the battery is still being drain because I have not driven the car with the new alternator installed.
Any ideas cause my mind is blank right now.

for the past couple of monts my car has been making a noise which to me sounds like metal scraping on the ground. it only happenes when u start your car after it has been sitting there for a while, and only when you push on the gas after u drive for about 5 minutes the noise goes away and then will do it again after the car sits there a while. please help if u know what it is. no stupid answers please its a 01 pontiac and it only has like 70,000 miles so its not really that old its the first five minutes that u push the gas weather sitting or driving

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and just lately my car has been shutting off at stop lights. When I let my car idle my RPM's will fluctuate from between 1 and 0 and when it hits zero my car shuts off and my battery light will come on for 2 seconds and disapear.. other than that my car runs fine.. When my engine light first came on i checked it out and it was only the o2 sensor and then my car started acting all funny so idk

if it wasnt a punture or a problem with the valve?
Could it be down to how the tyre was sitting on the wheel. tyre was replaced a month ago. Problem only happened over last weekend.
I have standard 15 inch ford alloy wheel

Is the 2 prongs on a rocker switch both hot? I mean the hot wire coming off the batt goes to one prong is for yhr hot coming off of what im hooking up then I ground it to anything right?

Or is the second prong a ground and I hook both hots to one prong?

I have run a Smart car for about five years because I do take economic and environmental issues seriously. I have no complaint with the vehicle and will ultimately hope to replace it with another. The one area that maddens me is that I seem to have no alternative but to take it to a Smart garage for servicing and the cost are outrageous. Whatever happened to choice?

I have 100,008 miles on this car and just then water dumped out of my chevy like it was a flood! It slow leaks water when it's off and pours like the nile when it's idling.
I am looking to know that the water pump is the right diagnosis, what tools are required to, and how to replace this part myself. Reason: Cause I'm trying to save on about $450.00 of labor. The part is only $23.00. :P

i just recieved a 1985 ford ranger and we towed it maybe down 1 street to a gas staition and put 5 dollars in it, and we had to play with it to start it hit the gas let it go type deal, well it starting running decent but when i got home i waited a few hours it started up twice without neededing to touch the gas and it started up in under 3 seconds, well i drove a few streets (2am at this point) parked it and put it in reverse reversed fine but when i hit the brakes and it came to a complete stop it killed so i tryed starting it it wouldnt happen then i tried the gas let it go thing it wouldnt have it i tried multiple times, in the end i had to walk it al the way home by myself steering and pushing it was hell, im geussing tune-up-spark plgs plug wires, oil change, and changing the air filrtter will be good but what yall got?

I have taken the top off of the fusebox so many times that I've lost it. My air quit working a couple of days ago for some reason. Someone replaced the fuse and it worked for like 20 minutes before going off again. The air works fine on auto and not econ but in the middle of driving it will all of a sudden switch to econ and then it just blows out warm air like a fan does. *Service Air Conditioning pops up on the information center* That's usually before the air stops working. But During this time you can not swith it back to auto because it immediately jumps back to econ.It won't allow you to switch the control to auto for some reason. I don't know why. Does anyone think a fuse has blowed again or something? So I'm wondering if it's the fuse that's really causing my air not to work or something else that's causing the fuse to blow. Please help car people!!

Last week I started hearing a noise from my front tires as they rotated and not while the brakes were on. My brother said it might be the wheel bearings.

Today I took it to the dealer and he said it was probably an early warning sensor on the front brakes. He quoted me a price of what it would be if the brakes had to be replaced and said it would be more if they had to do something with the wheel bearings. Are the two items (brakes and wheel bearings) related?
