mmm man, this is not good... it sound slike your putting a 1992 mustang engine in a 1989? Honestly, this will probably never work, because the 1992 will have alot more stuff to hook up that the 89 just doesn't have. And the way fords are, they change stuff mid year so that even cars of the same year will have different stuff. probably the best thing you can do is just get a very detailed wiring schematic, and you will have to rebuild the harness by yourself, or look online for a 92 to 89 harness, but it will probably cost between $350 and $600 for it. if your going 89 engine into a 92, just about everything applies there too, and since the engine won't have some of the stuff the 92 has, you will have faults from the PCM, and another thing to consider is that either year will have programming in the PCM that won't interchange with the other, so even when you get the engine in and try to start it it won't run because of this.

Why you want to do that. Anyway, you will need the ECU for 1989. Check with PAINLESS (don't remember their web site, but I know for sure it a lot of pain) for wiring loom. They carry quite a few of conversion wiring loom. I have done that with my 1991 Camaro, put a 1995 LT1 engine in it, get wiring loom from PAINLESS, with a lot of pain to get it to work. Good luck
