i wanted to change mine to red but this guy at an auto store said it was illegal.

Any mod that makes it look like you've got tail lights on the front of your car is an extremely bad idea. I think it's actually a federal law against forward-facing red lights except for emergency lights.

Fog lights may only be white or yellow, You may never put a red light of any kind in the front or side..Emergency Vihicles only may have it...Your friend from Tennessee...ROB

yup most places about the us unless you are voluteer fireman or such blue lights and red lights are definitely off limits to non law enforcement,or civilian use. yellow flashers could also be mistaken as emergency vehicle of sorts and possibly get you into a jam, it depends on hoe they're being used.
