Could someone tell me if this is serious? I have a automatic transmission Chevy Malibu and it has 70,000 miles on it. Lately, I have noticed that the car jerks once in a while when I am slowing down or speeding up. Especially when I am slowing down and then when i try to go back up to speed. Like from 55 miles per hour down to 25 and back up to 55 miles per hour. I sense that it is during gear changes. Is this a serious problem or is this something that can be taken care of with routine maintenance? This car has a bad exhaust valve (happened at about 60,000 miles) anyways, numerous electrical problems, and the chinese steel rotors rusted out at about 2 years. So I would probably sell it if there was a serious or costly transmission problem. I bought this vehicle new about a little over 5 years ago and have not really been happy with the problems that it has had with such low mileage.

The engine is heating up to about 275 degrees. Once it gets up that high, it can drop quickly to about 170. It has boiled over once. It is full of antifreeze. I know it could be the thermostat that is broken, but could there be something wrong inside the engine?

It has an electric fan set with a start at 195 and a stop at 170. It does turn on.

It will turn over, but never starts. It started dieing when I'd stop a few months before it completely shut down. I'd wait a few minutes and it'd start again. We have given it a complete tune up and changed the fuel filter and the distributer. When it died the last time, it wouldn't turn over or anything. Then we changed the distributor and it started turning over, but still will not crank. A friend of mine thinks the timing is off, but I have no idea how to check that or if it will be expensive to fix. Any ideas?
