Normally, when I unlock the car I can twist the key twice and unlock all doors. Also, if I hold the key the windows come down. Today, I twisted the key twice and all the windows came down and will not go up. I think I need to replace the lock or is a sensor/switch bad?

We recently purchased a brand new Jetta TDI and starting about a month after the purchase, the bakes squeal. It's been in about 4 times already having them replaced or reassembled. We are curious if it might be something to do with the cold outside or a manufacture problem. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on what it can be?

The hood on my 2000 VW Jetta is badly bent and the hood strut is destroyed, both need to be replaced. Any idea what this would cost? I have comprehensive coverage with a $500 deductible. There was no accident, the hood flew up while driving. Think this will be covered?

It is a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, I took it in a few months ago because the sunroof drain clogged and leaked into the car. They supposedly fixed it and replaced the floorboards and interior carpets but now it happened again. I'm afraid they're trying to more or less put a bandaid on it until my warranty runs out.

I only have about 4,000 miles or 4 months left on the warranty.

I have a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta with a warning light on I've never seen before. I'd like to know if there is a website that has specific information about these lights. Ideally, I'd like to find something that has a picture and description of what each warning light means. I do not have the owners manual. In case anyone knows, this light is a solid green circle with green dashes in a half circle on either side of the solid circle.

I have a 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle that has had problems since the day I bought it used. Although I love this car, I am SICK of going to the dealer every few months with "check engine" or some faulty wiring or airflow meter or you name it. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs. Anyone else with these problems? Are the newer models any better?

I purchased my 2002 VW Jetta GLX new from the dealer about 5 years ago. I got two keys plus a valet key. The two keys are the special VW-style key with key fob integrated that allows for remote key entry.

I've been using one key for the past 5 years without any problems. Last week, I needed to use the spare key and found that the key no longer starts the car. The key fob still unlocks/locks the car, but when the key is used to start the car, the car starts for a second but then shuts off.

When I called the dealership, they told me that VW spare keys need to be used every so often and my spare key had "lost its memory" so I would need to bring all of my keys in to have them reprogrammed. All this to the tune of $170.

I've never used the spare key before this, and I think it's wrong for a spare key to stop working if you don't use it. I think the dealer just never registered the key to the car. Is this a legitimate problem with VW spare keys and should I have to pay to get it fixed?

Just replaced the alternator my car, after reconnecting the battery I get power but it will not start. According the the repair manual it is the anit-theft mode and requires the activation code to be input thru the stock radio. I replaced the radio, but still have it I think, do I need to have the original deck that it came with? Is there some number besides a dealer I can call? We bought the car used for our daughter and after a $400 replacement key experience would perfer not to go to a dealer. Any manual that might help me?

In reverse, it makes a similar noise. I think this year jetta has a hydraulic clutch. I don't know if this problem is something to do with the clutch or if it's a transmission problem.

remove the engine from the vehicle? And is the rebuild very involved? The problem I am having is the bus stalls as soon as it gets warm and kicks down....It also seems it drains the battery even though the generator pushes almost 12 volts. It seems to run strong when its cold. Everyone I talk to is saying its something internal , such as rings or valves , I'm not so sure though. Any info would be apprieciated. Thanks!

I recently went to Autozone to purchase an oxygen sensor for my 2000 Jetta, but the Customer Rep. asked me if it's the 1st(top) or 2nd(bottom) section that needs to be replaced. The only way I can find out is by taking it to Pep Boys but they're a rip-off. Does anyone know which section it is?

The Engine Light shows up, several car shops and friends have told me it's the Oxygen Sensor.

What causes the check engine light to come on? Mine came on, I thought it was because I haven't had an oil change for a while (which has happened before, and then the light resets itself after a while), well this time it didn't turn off. What could be causing it to come/stay on? My car has been running like normal. Any suggestions?
