It is a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta, I took it in a few months ago because the sunroof drain clogged and leaked into the car. They supposedly fixed it and replaced the floorboards and interior carpets but now it happened again. I'm afraid they're trying to more or less put a bandaid on it until my warranty runs out.

I only have about 4,000 miles or 4 months left on the warranty.

Take it back and tell them that you are unhappy with their service and get them to try again, if you are still not happy you can report the dealership to VW head quarters, but give them another chance, it may be coincidence.

First lets look at the problem. Where do you park your car? Is it some place that would get a lot of dirt and debris? Something has to clog the drain tube. The tube does run down the A pillar and is very hard to replace so if they did not install it correctly at the factory it could also cause this problem, so think back to when you first got the car did it work back then. If you live some place that does not get a lot of rain and you park inside most of the time it may not have shown up at first so think back.

Now lets look at the repair. In most cases what the dealer does in a case like this is flush the pipe with compressed air, then pour some water down it to see if it flows out. Now much like a slow drain in your house once its clogged it is very hard to get clean. Keep a written record of any repair they do as it will have a 12 month warranty. Also if it is a case of you park near pine trees or the like that could clog the drain it is not a warranty issue as much as one where you need to keep the track clean. It happens a lot and dealers should do better at telling customers with a sun roof.

Why don't you take it back to them? Bring them the receipt and say "The problem still exists". There is normally more than one mechanic at any dealership I have seen. They will give it to someone else or the body shop......Why would you suspect that they would be just bandaiding it instead of fixing it.? There is a simple solution, pull the headliner and silicone the drain hose to the steel outlet pipe for the sunroof. That is where the leak comes from....the vinyl tubing slides off the pipe.

Take it to another dealership and let them try. I think as long as the problems begins while in warranty it does not matter even after the warranty runs out as long as it is the same problem. Also the dealership charges the manufacture (VW) so it does not matter to them who pays the bill.

have them install new drains again and replace the carpet if it smells moldy. after they replace the drains again and you get the car back open both of the front doors and you will see 1 rubber nipple in each door jam, cut the ends off of these nipples because they get clogged with dirt and leaves. once you do this you will never have this problem again.

Not only should you do everything that the other repliers said, but your "in writing" claim should include a photograph of your odometer, and the photograph, and your complaint letter should be dated, and NOTARIZED.

The problem is existing before your warranty is up, and they have not resolved it.

in the adventure that your guarantee is in the path of the broker at as quickly because it surprisingly much relatively has a provision to void the guaranty if all of us else works on the automobile. even with the undeniable fact that, in case you have been out of city and had referred to as the broker you acquire it from they maximum probable might have approved the form of fix as a conveinence. in any different case returned maximum warranties grant that the customer pays any towing expenditures. in case you acquire a third occasion provider settlement, sturdy success they have greater outs and provisions than the U. S. government. If guarantee is production facility insurance, it is not proper which save works on it as long as they are mitsubishi. in case you want my appropriate guess, i might say your oil leak is what led to your preliminary timing belt failure and is probable going to reason yet another failure in case you do not fix it. on condition that the different mechanic worked on it with out authorization out of your guarantee guarantor than you're probable on your man or woman, yet i might say merely get the seal replaced and then positioned on yet another belt. Timing belts are not that costly it is the exertions expenditures that are surprisingly extreme, yet they're going to could be in that place besides whilst they fix the leak so get a sparkling belt. Timing belts generally pass a minimum of 40-50k before desiring exchange, i may be very shocked in the adventure that your belt failed initially for any reason different than the oil leak you describe. EDIT: you probably did not have it worked on initially at Mitsubishi? then you certainly are probable on your man or woman with this one. you may call Mitsubishi at as quickly as and attempt to describe it to them, optimistically they provide you some help in this, yet particularly you mustn't in any respect fix something on a automobile that's under production facility guarantee, different than at that manufacturers dealerships. Oil alterations, and familiar mantainance might properly be performed someplace else, yet that's it. I see I have been given a thumbs down, could have been from considered one of those yutzes that sells third occasion provider contracts, sorry chum, they only suck.
