my vw 1998 i litre injection polo when standing still the car ticks over @revs up fine soon as i take it for arun it kangaroo jumps in every gear i have changed the ht leads + coil+ plugs+fuel filter+rota arm please can anyone help at my witts end

YOU MAY HAVE VACUME IN THE FUEL TANK CAUSED BY A BLOCKED FILLER CAP, IF YOUR FUEL TANK IS NOT FULL TRY A SHORT TRIP WITHOUT THE FUEL CAP ON , IF THIS FIXES IT ALL YOU NEED IS A NEW FUEL CAP

If the engine's not misfiring, I'd suspect either engine mounts or the clutch on its way out. A quick opinion from a garage should identify it, or you may be spending more time, money & temper to no avail!

When I had something similar, it was the engine managment unit forcing me to stay below 40mph because there was a fault somewhere... Does it kangeroo at any speed?

Take it to the dealer....

I would hazard fuel starvation issue here. Fuel pump pressure&/or fuel delivery from pump

maybe the problem isn't your engine have you had your gearbox or suspension checked, if it idles and revs OK the problem could be elsewhere.
