I have a 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle that has had problems since the day I bought it used. Although I love this car, I am SICK of going to the dealer every few months with "check engine" or some faulty wiring or airflow meter or you name it. I have spent literally thousands of dollars on repairs. Anyone else with these problems? Are the newer models any better?

I had a 2001 VW Bug with 60 thousand miles on it, only one problem with my knob to turn the heat level and air level up. But no big problems.
I also have a 2006 VW Bug with 1600 miles on it, i know its not alot of mile, but still have had no absolutely no problems with it. they drive smoother and better than my 01 bug.
If you're going to get a bug, I'd get a newer one instead of putting all this money into you're used on.
Good Luck:)

99-2000 VW bugs seem to a few more problems then the newer models. Check your local listings for independent repair shops that work on VW, then check their rating with the Better Business Bureau. This may save you a lot of money compared to the dealer!

Any VW after 2003 is 100 times better than the previous years.
My wife drives an 06 Beetle that we have had for 1 year and we have put 28,000 miles on it with 0 problems.
I have a 07 Jetta and have already put 5400 miles on it with 0 problems.

Until recently, I was involved with the auto repair industry. I can tell you that I am aware of several reputable shops that will refuse to work on ANY VW product. They are very labor intensive, the parts are extremely expensive and they break repeatedly.

If you MUST have something sporty, get a Mazda Miata. At least the Mazda folks can get parts and repair that! You would be much better off with a V-6 Mustang, easy to repair and the parts are easily available.

Yes, a friend of mine did, so they sold it and believe it or not, they bought a 1969 VW beetle! It cost him less than 20.00 to drive 400 miles! It uses little oil, and he can maintain it himself! Yeah, his friends thought he was nuts, but "his" car isn't breaking down like "their's." This probably didn't help you, but I thought I'd share that little story with you anyway. Good luck.

it truly is too a lot. good vehicle yet they are inquiring for too a lot. I truly have a 2000 Jetta with 94k and that i'd be fortunate to get 5000. What recommendations are available the automobile? that still has a lot to do with the cost. Least to superb- Gl? Gls? Glx? Gli? I truly have a gls yet virtually totally loaded. Heated leather-depending seats and larger. that's good tho that it truly is stick! locate a inventory yet low fee and larger recommendations if it wouldn't have ;)
