I have saved up $20,000 to buy a car, how do I negotiate with the dealer so I won't have to finance anything, what would be the best approach. I don't want to pay more than my $20,000 Dollars

A photo ad costs more than just a "word ad"; and if somebody is looking for a car, then they will read every and inquire about every ad of the make and model they are looking for, as I did for the car I just bought. I want to know what others think.

Source: CNN News. ABC News. BBC News. In July more Americans bought foreign cars than American Cars. This makes the UAW very angry. What is going on?

My husbands parents passed away in an automobile accident in 1974 and I'm wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to still be able to track down the vehicle they were in during the accident...Thank you for anyone that has any knowledge of this. And please, be absolutely sure your answers are truthful before leaving a posting as this is very important to me. Thank you.

Ok i really want an AUDI Q7, but we just bought a house and two cars so im going to have to settle for something a little less expensive for now. I hate SUV's but my GLi is too small. Im looking into getting either a 2008 Dodge Nitro or a 2008 GMC Arcadia but i dont know what either companies resell values are on their cars. Ive only owed imported and german cars so this american car thing to me is new. Please help!! The only thing that ive found good is that the Nitro has a lifetime warranty (dealer special) and the Arcadia has a 5 yr 100k mile warranty and that was important to me.

I need a truck for work and am looking at vintage and restored trucks or late(r) model import SUVs... I need to go off-roading for work and wouldn't mind something jacked up a little bit, if need be. Stock is also good. I'm new to LA (and in Hollywood specifically) and need to purchase a vehicle with cash in the next few days. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a first time driver, looking to purchase a second-hand car. I realize I will need to take into consideration the make and model of the car, which will play an important role in determining the insurance I pay. I am ready to spend around $4000.00 for the price of the Car. A friend recommended a Honda or a Toyota. What would you recommend and what model?

I've heard that imports are generally better to buy than American cars if you are considering buying a used car. What imports are generally among the best? What is the maximum mileage I should consider when checking out these used import cars?

I asked a question similiar to this a few weeks ago, but I now have new information. To those that have not read my first question I will retell the story. I bought a new nissan on 5/29. I traded in a car that had a ny salvage title written right across the front of it. Six weeks later the dealer sent me a letter telling me I committed a serious offense. I contacted DMV and they informed me I had not. The dealer now wants to be compensated in the amount of 1,000. He painted some of the car and has had it in his possession for over six weeks. I talked to him yesterday and he says if I don't pay him he will take me to court and win. He says he has done this several times and won.In the meantime I contacted the dealer that sold me the car with the salvage title and told him he never informed me when I bought the car that is was salvage. He said he did verbally, which is a lie. It was not on the bill of sale. What would you do if you were in situation? Thanks for your advice.

The reason I ask is because, now I don't mean to sound selfish, but I happen to park my car in the street right in front of my house. But recently someone just decided to park their "For Sale" car there, and who knows how long it's going to be there for. Now I can't park there, and I really don't feel comfortable parking my car someplace where I can't keep an eye on it. Are there any rules that apply to displaying a car for sale or does the owner have the right to park it anywhere they want?

I don't know my credit score, but I can give you some details. I have been working out of college for 7 months. I make $32000 a year. I have been paying rent and utilities for 27 straight months without any late payments. I also have student loans, of which I pay $55/month and my parents pay the remaining $120/month. I have one credit card with a $1000 limit and never missed a payment and owe $0. The only other thing I pay for (other than usual groceries, etc) is car insurance.

What are my chances of getting a $12-13k loan for a car? If it helps, I will be putting $5k down on it. I may also chose to go private sale for the car, but will still need the $12-13k loan and pay the difference in cash.

ALSO, important...I won't have a cosigner. I don't have anyone who can cosign for me.

I just wanted to find out what things I should look out for before buying a used car. I've heard about CarFax but I don't know how that works yet. What should I be wary of? What should I do before closing a deal?

I'm looking for a SUV that is reliable and I've heard good things about the 4Runner. Looking at a 1996 TOYOTA 4RUNNER SR5 (3.4L V6 FI DOHC 24V / REAR WHEEL DRIVE) with listed price of $5995.00. 146,000 miles. Per Carfax report, no accidents/recalls, 1 owner. Went to look at it and looks great, interior looks brand new (leather, sunroof, new radio with faceplate that is removable). Outside is also nice (tinted, has front grill guard also). Is this good mileage for the price? I am negotiating and dealer is willing to go down to $4000 with 1000 down payment. I'm traumatized from a previous bad car deal so any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I'm a student and have some extra money for car insurance, registration and other expenses (approx.$400-600). But I really need it. I'm thinking about $2500-$4000 used car. I will study here 2 more years so I'm not looking for a long-time drive.

I have options...
1. Buying above priced car from a dealer with financing (I have good credit history).
2. Leasing above priced used car (if possible).
3. Get loan from a bank (if possible) and buy from an individual party.
4. Or try my luck in an auction.
Which one is better and where I can find the best deal in Los Angeles or San Francisco area?

Regards,
Abdu

We had our car checked out at a mechanic prior to listing for sale. The mechanic confirmed there were no issues with the car. The person who purchased our vehicle three days ago claims that there are several mechanical issues and wants to either return it, have us pay the mechanical bills or take us to court. What are the rules for this as a private seller?????

I've got about 15%. I wanted to wait a bit longer and make a bigger one, but circumstances won't permit this. I'm sure this is acceptable, but I'm wondering what is typical.
