I am looking to buy a car, and I need to know of a few options. I'm a little strapped for cash, obviously, so I need something fairly cheap that runs well, is safe, and is fuel efficient.

Any suggestions?

Okay, here's the deal. I have been paying on my car since 2001, and only owe $1600. They want to repo since I haven't paid a full pmt since aug. I live in TX, what are my rights. The finance co refuses to work with me. Do they have to? Can I sell my car even though I don't have the title. They, of course, want the full amount. If I can send them the amount past due & one extra month, do they have to work with me & accept those payments? I can't send the full 1600, but I can send 1/2. Any ideas?

I recently trade in a vehicle for a truck, the dealership pay off the car, before I could get finance. However, the dealership refuses to give me the car back, they actually went back to the finance company and ask for the money back. It's been two month now, and now the finance company want to hit me with repossession. But the car is still sitting on the dealership lot. The dealership hid and refuses to give me the car. So now, I'm looking at repossession been on my credit. Legally, there is no paper trail, the first documentation was today, since June 2006. Who's in the right, and who's in the wrong?

I currently drive a 2000 Focus. It's recently got some mechanical problems that might take over $1000 to fix. For now, it's drivable without any issues. I'm moving to Japan for 3 years and am crazy busy until I leave and won't have much time to get it fixed or sell. We still owe $4K on it. My question is this: do we give it to the gov't to store for free while I'm gone? I could use it as a trade-in or fix it once I got back when I have more time and resources. I would be making $200 payments on it another 20 months. Or, should I sell it and possibly take a loss on what we owe and be rid of it and start over once I'm back?

I have been leasing a car from JD Byrider for 9 months now and my family income has changed drastically. I have been diagnosed with cancer and the payments are just too much now. I am supposed to pay $360 a month but it's just not feasible. The agent at JD Byrider told me that I owe just over 10 grand!!! He says that by law he has to auction the car off and if he can only get 2 or 3 thousand from the auction, that I would have to come up with $7000!!! for a car I no longer own. Please help, is this even true? Is there no legal manuveur I can use to get out from under this? As of today I have to put my rent off for a month to pay this. Am I stuck with this car? I believe that JD Byrider operates it's own auction house, meaning that they could buy the car for real cheap, then stick me with the rest...is this true?

My brother's trying to buy a Geo Tracker. We live in New Hampshire and the guy he's buying it from lives in Rhode Island. The guy said the car's very reliable and mentioned no problems with the car. My brother found the car online, so he sent him the money for the car $650.00, and the guy sent him the title. Apparently, this guy is selling it for a friend because the title was signed by his "best friend" and there was note that said, "I, _____, sell one 1996 Geo Tracker in "AS IS" condition." He put emphasis on, "as is," so I'm assuming there's got to be something wrong with it (plus, it's a Geo.) My brother's only 18 and this is his first time buying a car on his own. I don't like this idea at all. He already drove all the way down to Rhode Island once and when he got to the guy's house he wasn't there (or so he said on the phone, even though his driveway was full of cars.) So, already I feel like these two guys selling the cars are sketchy. What do you think of this?
