Do you absolutely NEED a car? If the answer to that is no, then save your money. However if you need it for work, because your parents cannot help you get around (or your friends), etc then I recommend:
Check out prices of insurances (they vary a LOT but expect to pay about $100 a month, at least).
A sedan with ABS, airbags (front and side), automatic and don't forget to scratch the VIN on the windows and doors (insurance will usually discount if you do this).
A Honda civic or a Toyota corolla are your best bet. these cars are reliable for several years, require minimal effort to maintain, are good on gas and are not expensive to insure. If you get one from 2002-2005 you can probably expect it to last you 10-15 years so it is a better investment then say a Hyundai accent which may only last for 6-7 years before it gives you severe problems. (check out www.edmunds.com for help picking a good car)
I also recommend asking your parents if your family can do an umbrella policy for insurance as that can help you save money.
Good places to look for a car is online (try a local newspaper or a site like www.cars.com) and if you can buy privately it is usually cheaper.
Good luck!

The bus. $150 a week is not enough to keep a car on the road legally. Specially when you account for Insurance, Up keep of the car, and the price of Gas. It would be better to catch the bus and borrow the parents car when it's really important to get somewhere.
