I am looking to buy a car, and I need to know of a few options. I'm a little strapped for cash, obviously, so I need something fairly cheap that runs well, is safe, and is fuel efficient.

Any suggestions?

What about a Toyota Corolla? The new ones are pretty nice and you hardly EVER need matience, which saves a ton of money. Chances are, if you get a really cheap car you're going to put more money in it for repairs than it's worth.

A Geo or Chevy Prizm and a Toyota Corolla are the same car underneith either is fine. The Prizm should be cheaper to find. Honda Civic if you can get one cheap. But make sure the timing belt has been replaced at or around every 90,000 miles. Also check the CV shafts in front for torn boots.

Cavaliers are great for a first car. They're small but great on gas. They're also pretty cheap. It would have to be used because Chevy makes Cobalts instead of cavaliers now, but you can find a good one for cheap at a dealership just remember to talk them down. Used cars usually have a mark-up of about $3000 of what they paid for them. Hehe I used to sell at a chevy dealership.

Late 90's Geo/Chevy Prism. Should run for 200,000 miles for pretty cheap.

Late 90s Dodge Spirit or any of the Chevy Cavaliers. I got great gas mileage on the Spirit when I was in high school, and it was a sturdy little bugger, too!!
