i drive a 1988 ford ranger, and the tires on it now are done.

but 3 of the tires are 195's and one is a 215 (guetto little truck, i know)
well stock it runs 215's all around,(it says that the truck CAN be ran on 195s on websites that tell you about the truck being stock, so its not a uncommen thing)
this truck MAYBE puts out max 90HP.....
so i was going to switch the tires to 195's becase i dont need that extra tread on the ground with such a low hourse power!
(better gas mileage being a big goal)

but this truck sits most the summer, and i drive my bike durring the summer.

so my question is.
would it be ok to put 195's on this truck? what will be different then running 215's?

and as far as traction, would it be ok to put 215's on the rear, and 195's on the frount? (this way to have better grip in snow/dirt ect)
or will it make the truck act funny?

a little advice/help would be great!
(going to go get them tommarow

Just replaced water pump, thermostat, and radiator cap 2 months ago. Since it has gotten colder, engine temp will not get up to operating temp, making my heater blow lukewarm air. If it is warmer outside, engine warms up fine and heater blows hot. Used Stant 195 degree t-stat. Any suggestions??

I am contemplating buying an '86 trans am but I would need to drive it during the winter. I know it's probably a bad idea, but is it a totally ridiculous idea? Mind, by winter I do mean snow and ice and the like.

Hey everyoooone.

For my 16t birthday on two weeks, my mom said part of my gift is $2,000 towards a car, if I can match what they are giving me, which will get me a $4,000 car or truck. If I am getting anymore money, I am unaware of it :)

I know every teenager wants their beautiful lifted truck with big offroad tires, just like I do.. For me it was a little Toyota, or an older GMC Sierra (though I am willing to accept the fact that I need something with better gas milage).

For a car, my first idea was a Pontiac Grand Am, because Ive seen several of those going for 4 or 5 thousand...

I live in Alaska, so something with 4 or all wheel drive would be optimum, but gas milage is also a bonus..

Should I be looking at cars or trucks?

any suggestions for reliable good cars that I could find in the 4k price range?

I moving further away from a job I like and want to decrease the additional drive time. A motorcycle seems the best way, but what kind ? A dirt bike with street tires, or just stick to a street bike ? The main goal here is to cut thru traffic, because work starts at 5:30pm which puts me in the thick of rush hour, and not spend an hour on the road with the increased distance to be traveled. Any ideas and thoughts, anyone ?

cleans the carbs (all worked on by Honda shop). I've noticed that my front forks have a leak but its only a small amount of residue. I've spent approximately $1,500 doing all the repairs listed above. The bike has approx. 26,000 miles.

My main question is: I really don't want to shell out the $400-$500 in replacing both forks right now. Since the leak isn't bad (only small residue of oil), how much longer should I ride before I really need to replace them so I won't compromise my safety?

What constituents a bad leak on the fork seals? Lines of oil running up?

Thanks for your responses.

P.S. I haven't experienced any braking problems due to the fork seals leaking yet (as I read on other websites).

My b/f and I have a car in his name. I'm currently out of town for 3 months for business. I heard from some friends that since I've been gone he hasn't made payments on the car and it has been repossessed. Is there a website or someone I can call to see if the car has been repoed. I know the plate number and the VIN number. I don't want to go back home and not have a car. P.S. This is in Illinois and the place he got it from won't give me any information since my name was not on the car.

I just bought a 2006 Nissan Sentra from a non-nissan dealer. The dealer told me that he is not sure if the car has a keyless entry or not. He only gave me the keys to the car and thats all. I am trying to find out if the car has the keyless entry in it or not, considering that it has all of the other goodies in it, so that i can buy the remote for it. I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 S Special Edition. I know keyless entry comes standard in the 2008 2.0 S trim but cant find if my particular one has it or not. I will greatly appreciate feedback. Thank you all.

I live in San Antonio, TX. I received a ticket from SAPD for having mufflers that are too noisy. The officer claims that my mufflers were not legal. When I went to court, the judge told me that I have to provide proof that the mufflers were properly installed and legal for street use. Do I have to go to a dealer to get this or can I get this done at an authorized state inspection place? The mufflers are after market, by the way.

My boyfriend and I are driving from Texas to Ohio to move back home in 3 days and it is a 22 hour drive. We are driving seperate because we have two different cars. So I will be driving alone yet following him. None the less it is a long long long drive. I hate driving long distances, I've never driven longer than 4 hours by myself, any tips on how to keep me occupied? I am burning cds, and audiobooks, and other ideas? Also what kind of drinks and food do you recommend to keep me energized. And how about anything to put on the seat to keep me comfortable cause I'll be sitting a long time.

My 1998 Altima gets bad MPG, around 18-20. Also its pretty slow to accelerate at first. I put about 1/3 ounce of Acetone for 3 gallons of gas yesterday night. I know it doesn't make the MPG better, and its bad, but I heard it helps with clogged fuel injectors. I am not even sure if my car uses a fuel injector, but anyways, after putting in the Acetone within 15 minutes, I noticed acceleration got a little better, but no difference in the MPG. How do I know if the fuel injector is clogged up, how do I clean it myself for the cheapest price, without using more Acetone? Also when I drive the gas indicator is wacked. When I make a right turn, my gas indicator goes from half to quarter, and a left turn makes it go from half to 3 quarters, assuming my tank is half full, so its hard gauge how much gas I have. Even driving on a slightly curved highway, the indicator goes up and down according to how I am curving, constantly, and is VERY annoying, what do you think could be wrong with this.

So I'm in the market for a new car and I have been switching back and forth between different cars. It went from a VW GTi 1.8t to a Honda Prelude to a MSP then back to the GTi. Well I've decided to just go with a car and I've narrowed it down to a Titanium Gray MSP with 48,295miles for $12k and a black 2003 GTi 1.8t with 45,500 miles for $12500. Both are 5 speeds. I dont know which to get. Can anyone offer me advice? I plan on throwing some mods into the car i choose. Can anyone give me an honest opinion and the pros/cons for both cars. Please help me out.

I have a 96 impala as a 2nd car. Rear wheel drive. If I am parked on a slight incline I have my ebrake one. I go to the car, take the ebrake off. When i try to shift from park to reverse the shifter refuses to me (its not on the wheel its on the middle floor part). What could be causing this. It is like stuck solid, i have to wait a few and pulll way hard to get it to move.
