I live in San Antonio, TX. I received a ticket from SAPD for having mufflers that are too noisy. The officer claims that my mufflers were not legal. When I went to court, the judge told me that I have to provide proof that the mufflers were properly installed and legal for street use. Do I have to go to a dealer to get this or can I get this done at an authorized state inspection place? The mufflers are after market, by the way.

The law specifies a decibel reading at a certain distance behind the bike. If the mufflers don't meet that, it doesn't matter who made them or certified them. They're illegal.

the manufacturer certifies their equipment for street use(copy of web page stating mufflers are for street?), but u will also need a statement that they hav been correctly installed and not modified prob from a shop.
